MINNEAPOLIS Minnesota Twins starter P.J. Walters left Wednesday's game with a shoulder injury after facing just four Philadelphia batters. The team announced Walters was dealing with shoulder pain and stiffness and was not able to get loose. He'll have an MRI on Thursday. Walters gave up four straight hits to open the game before he was met on the mound by manager Ron Gardenhire and athletic trainer Dave Pruemer. After a brief discussion, Walters was taken out of the game after 15 pitches and was replaced by Jeff Manship. Walters surrendered two runs on an RBI single by Jim Thome and left runners on first and second with nobody out in the first inning. After an impressive start to his Twins career (2-1 with a 2.96 ERA in four starts), Walters allowed nine total runs in 9 13 innings over his following two starts.Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.

Twins' Walters likely to land on DL after abbreviated start

Minnesota Twins right-hander P.J. Walters lasted only four batters Wednesday, tagged with four earned runs and the loss in a 9-8 setback to the Philadelphia Phillies at Target Field. After Walters gave up four consecutive singles to start the game, manager Ron Gardenhire had seen enough. "I said, 'You're throwing 80 miles an hour. What's going on here?' ...

Twins fan catches foul ball while on cell phone, plays it off like a boss (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. The more cell phone use we see at baseball games, the more great plays and embarrassing moments we will be treated to when balls go flying into the stands. On Tuesday night in Minnesota, the former came into play. As you can see from the clip above, a Twins fan made a nice stab on a foul ball down the first base line in the seventh inning....

Twins thank veterans with visit to VA Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS Of all the events the Minnesota Twins participate in during Hope Week, Tuesday's was perhaps the highlight for manager Ron Gardenhire. The group spent time with military veterans, signing autographs...

Ben Revere

I suppose it's high time we talked about Ben Revere, who is hitting .342 this season, which is behind only Paul Konerko in the American League among players with at least 100 at-bats.  So, what's up? Since being recalled from the minors and pretty much put into the lineup, Revere has hit .355 with 11 multi-hit games.  I'm pretty sure that's really good but when...

Twins get payoff for sticking with Plouffe

The Minnesota Twins were hoping Trevor Plouffe would finally find a role this season as what they called a "super utility" player, a guy who can play every infield position (he has) and both corner outfield spots (he has). They're getting so much more. "He's picking us up big time right now, which we needed," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We needed...

Twins' offensive surge raises confidence

MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins have said all season that hitting is contagious. It looks like the entire team is currently infected. For the third time in 10 games this month, the Twins' offense exploded for 10 or more runs when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies by an 11-7 final on Tuesday at Target Field. Eight of Minnesota's nine starters had at least one hit, and...

Twins will 'ad lib' in altered interleague play

MINNEAPOLIS Interleague play as baseball fans currently know it will be changing next season, and the Minnesota Twins have mixed reviews about the new format. Beginning in 2013, the Houston Astros will move from the National League Central to the American League West, meaning each league will have 15 teams and each division will have five teams. Given the odd number of clubs in...

Trevor Plouffe’s Magic Carpet Ride

The Minnesota Twins have a bright spot right now, sort of. Trevor Plouffe, the 26 year-old renaissance man who entered this season with 10 career home runs went deep again last night off Cole Hamels. It was his 11th of the season and 10th in the last calendar month. Plouffe has fantasy owners excited because he has played every position on the diamond except center field. Despite...
