MINNEAPOLIS Minnesota Twins starter P.J. Walters left Wednesday's game with a shoulder injury after facing just four Philadelphia batters. The team announced Walters was dealing with shoulder pain and stiffness and was not able to get loose. He'll have an MRI on Thursday.
Walters gave up four straight hits to open the game before he was met on the mound by manager Ron Gardenhire and athletic trainer Dave Pruemer. After a brief discussion, Walters was taken out of the game after 15 pitches and was replaced by Jeff Manship.
Walters surrendered two runs on an RBI single by Jim Thome and left runners on first and second with nobody out in the first inning. After an impressive start to his Twins career (2-1 with a 2.96 ERA in four starts), Walters allowed nine total runs in 9 13 innings over his following two starts.Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
