MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins will pay homage to the Minneapolis Millers this Saturday when they don the throwback uniforms worn by the 1951 Millers. The white uniforms include black lettering with orange outline of "Millers." In addition, black socks with orange stripes are a part of the uniform. The hats are black with an orange "M." The Twins will wear the uniforms in the second game of Saturday's double-header against the Kansas City Royals, but Minnesota won't be the only team turning back the clock. The Royals will don the throwback uniforms of the Kansas City Blues of the American Association. The Millers played in Minnesota from 1884-1960 and were named after the city's flour mill heritage. The 1951 Millers team included the great Willie Mays, who hit .477 with 30 RBI in 35 games with the team. Babe Ruth also played for the Millers for one game in 1935, and Ted Williams donned a Millers uniform in 1938. "The Twins are proud to remember this important part of Minnesota's great baseball heritage as the teams don the uniforms of the Minneapolis Millers and Kansas City Blues," said Twins curator Clyde Doepner. "This is truly a case of past meets present at Target Field; a ballpark that will one day be a revered place in baseball history." Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
