Found April 10, 2013 on Fox Sports North:
Left-hander Scott Diamond was Minnesota's best pitcher in 2012, but he's missed the first two weeks of the 2013 season after recovering from offseason elbow surgery. He'll be returning to the mound soon. Manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters Wednesday in Kansas City that Diamond will make his season debut Saturday against the New York Mets at Target Field. Diamond has been doing rehab work in Fort Myers, Fla., and was originally scheduled to debut Friday. That has now been moved back a day, as he'll pitch in the second game of Minnesota's three-game series with the Mets. Minnesota will have to make a corresponding roster move to add Diamond to the 25-man roster, but Twins general manager Terry Ryan told that the team will wait to announce the move until this weekend. A year ago, Diamond went 12-9 with a 3.54 ERA in 27 starts to lead the Twins' otherwise struggling rotation. He struck out 90 batters and walked 31 in 173 innings and was the only Twin...

Is hitting earlier better for Mauer, Twins?

At one point or another, Twins catcher Joe Mauer has hit in every single spot in Minnesota's batting order during his career. For the majority of the more than 1,000 games he's been a part of since 2004, Mauer has been the Twins' No. 3 hitter. That is, until this season. Manager Ron Gardenhire moved his All-Star catcher up one spot in the order to begin 2013, and Mauer...

Target Field in better shape for a huge snowball fight than a Twins game (photos)

As a lifelong resident of the great State of Minnesota, I have grown more than accustomed to its harsh winters and far-too-short summers (although autumn can be wonderful, but not all the time). But it has been an absolutely brutal experience the past few weeks: Far-below-average temperatures, snow, sleet and so on have made the transition from winter to spring up here in the Land...

Twins Tuesday: Hicks gets a night off

After struggling at the plate in his first seven games as a major leaguer, Aaron Hicks finally got a day off Tuesday in the Twins' 7-4 loss to Kansas City. The 23-year-old Hicks, who is making his big-league debut this year, was just 2-for-30 with two walks and 13 strikeouts prior to Tuesday's game in Kansas City. That prompted manager Ron Gardenhire to give Hicks a day...

Twins try to charge fans to watch batting practice, immediately change their mind

The Minnesota Twins have had an up and down start to the season on the field this year and it now seems that their struggles have seeped into the team's business decisions as well. On Tuesday morning, the Twins put out a press release that they were going to begin charging fans to watch batting practice. Yep, that's right. Don't believe me? I don't blame you. Here...

Snow has Twins crew working around clock

MINNEAPOLIS Maybe the Twins and Mets can just have a snowball fight this weekend. Crews have been working since early Thursday morning at Target Field to clear the several inches of snow that fell in the Twin Cities area overnight and into the afternoon. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions a week and a half into April, the Twins' front office remains hopeful that...

Despite snow, Twins will try to play this weekend

The Minnesota Twins are trying to not let a spring snowstorm prevent them from playing the New York Mets this weekend at Target Field. About five inches of heavy, wet snow fell Thursday in the Twin Cities area, and a crew of dozens worked throughout the morning, afternoon and evening to remove snow from the seating bowl and other areas at the ballpark. Twins President Dave St....

Royals take on the Twins tonight on FSKC

(AP) -- Mike Pelfrey had a splendid debut for the Minnesota Twins while winning his first start since Tommy John surgery. Jeremy Guthrie was just as strong in his first outing this season for the Kansas City Royals. The right-handers will try to build on those efforts as their teams continue a three-game series in Kansas City on Tuesday night. Pelfrey made three starts for the...
