Tyler Glasnow was named to Baseball America’s minor league All-Star team. Baseball America released their 2013 minor league All-Stars today. Tyler Glasnow was the only Pirates prospect on the list, being named to the second team All-Stars. Glasnow is joined by top pitcher Taijuan Walker on the second team, with the first team having Archie Bradley and C.J. Edwards, among others. The Pirates haven’t had a history of putting players on this list. J.R. House was on the catcher list in 2000. Steve Pearce made it as a first baseman in 2007. Pedro Alvarez made it as a third baseman in 2009. Sean Burnett made it as a pitcher in 2002. Glasnow’s inclusion is the first time since Alvarez in 2009 that a Pirates prospect has been recognized on this list. The list isn’t a top prospect list as much as it is a top performers list. Glasnow is on the second team because he had one of the most impressive stat lines among prospects in minor league baseball this year. That’s still a good thing, and shows why Glasnow is starting to get some hype as a top 25 prospect in baseball.
