Travis Blackley doesn't have the international star power of Yu Darvish, but the international showdown Sunday night in Texas sure favored the Australian. The Oakland A's beat the Texas Rangers 3-1, and Blackley gave up one run in seven innings compared with Darvish's three runs in seven innings. What a difference in offseasons for these two. Blackley had no job until the Giants called in mid-February and offered him a minor-league contract. Darvish was one of the hottest commodities in the game, with the Rangers paying a $51.7 million posting fee to the Nippon Ham Fighters and $60 million for a six-year contract to Darvish. Blackley was designed for assignment by the Giants, signed off waivers by the A's and inserted into the rotation in late May. He's 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA over his last four starts. "The A's stuck their neck out and give me a crack," Blackley said. "I'm just enjoying it here. It's comfortable. A lot of guys ...

Rangers' Darvish seems to have inside track for final All-Star spot

The Texas Rangers began a campaign Sunday afternoon to help right-hander Yu Darvish earn the final spot on the AL All-Star roster. He would become the eighth Ranger on the team. Darvish certainly did his part Sunday night, even if the offense didn't get the memo in a 3-1 loss to Oakland. Darvish matched his 16-start career high with 11 strikeouts. He pitched seven innings,...

As you can see from the photo above that was shared on Tumblr (via Fang’s Bites on Twitter), three lovely young ladies got an opportunity to pose for a picture in front of the dugout with...

Hamilton: All-Star again with record 11M votes

Five months ago, Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton was in the same interview room at Rangers Ballpark apologizing for a relapse with alcohol. Nearly 11.1 million votes, more than ever before for any player, were cast to send Hamilton to his fifth consecutive...

Straily Making Waves In The A's System

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - Coming into the season, the Oakland A's farm system was loaded with talented starting pitchers such as Jarrod Parker, Brad Peacock, Sonny Gray and A.J. Cole. Josh Reddick's 'Blast From the Past' Pours Salt Into Wound of Red Sox Loss (Video)

Before you say it, yes, we used to have guys like Josh Reddick. When you look back on his time in Boston, though, was there any indication that our Josh Reddick was going to turn into this one? In any case, the Oakland version was in the zone on Monday night, launching a home run and sending the A's on their way to victory over the Red Sox. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is giving...

Former Sox Homer in Sox Lost to As

The Sox lost to the Athletics behind one of the worst starts of Dice-K career.  Dice-K only pitched one inning and gave up homers to two former Sox in the process.  Dice-K clearly didn't have it last night and Bobby Valentine went out to get him in the 2nd inning before he was able to get an out.  Dice-K gave up a solo HR in the first to Josh Reddick and then a 3 run HR in...
