According to multiple sources, the Reds haven't made any progress on contract extensions for Francisco Cordero or Brandon Phillips since the season ended last Wednesday. When asked about the situation GM Walt Jocketty had this to say on Tuesday, "Hopefully, we'll talk in the next week or so." The team holds a club option for both Cordero and Phillips in 2012 to the tune of $12 million a piece. Although either player would likely be willing to take less money on a per-year basis should they receive a multi-year contract, neither will come cheaply. The 36-year old Cordero is reportedly seeking a two-year deal worth around $18 million, while the 30-year old Phillips is said to be looking for a contract similar to what the Braves gave Dan Uggla last offseason (5-year, $62 million).
