The Atlanta Braves got big nights from Julio Teheran and both Upton brothers as they beat the Miami Marlins in game two of the series.  The Braves pounded out 11 hits while defeating the Marlins 6-4 on Tuesday. With Monday night’s 14 inning game, the Braves really needed Julio Teheran to go deep into Tuesday’s start.  Teheran did exactly that, with a great start in Miami.  He pitched 7.1 innings and only gave up one earned run.  Teheran’s great start allowed the Braves to only use Jordan Walden, and Craig Kimbrel out of the bullpen. The Braves got out to an early lead on the Marlins.  B.J Upton was able to hit a sacrifice fly to right field for the second out in the second inning.  Freddie Freeman was on third base and was able to tag up and score on the Upton fly ball. The Marlins answered in their portion of the second inning.  The Marlins inning was kept alive when Chris Johnson, the Braves third baseman, made a fielding error.  The inning should have been over, but Rob Brantley, the Marlins catcher, got to come to the plate in the second.  Brantley hit a homerun off the foul pole in left that put the Marlins up 3-1 over the Braves. Just like the Braves, the Marlins would not hold the lead long.  In the third inning, Justin Upton hit his first double of the game, that scored Jason Heyward.  A couple of batters later, Brian McCann got a fly ball to the outfield that allowed Justin Upton to tag and score from third.  The two runs in the third for the Braves tied the ball game up at three. The Marlins were able to grab the lead back in the next half inning.  In the bottom of the third, it was a Logan Morrison single that brought Ed Lucas around to score.  Morrison’s RBI single gave the fish a 4-3 lead. Julio Teheran would shut down the Marlins after the third inning.  His shutdown innings gave the Braves offense a chance to get things going and grab the lead for good. It was the fifth inning when the Braves were able to tie up the game.  Justin Upton hit his second double of the night and was on base with Brian McCann coming to the plate.  McCann singled to center and Upton scored to tie the game at tie. Julio Teheran helped himself out with an infield hit in the sixth.  Henderson Alvarez, the Marlins starter, tried to make an off balance throw to first on the ball hit by Teheran.  The throw was off target and allowed B.J. Upton to score from second base. Justin Upton continued his good series at the plate in the seventh inning, when he crushed his 16th homerun of the season. Upton’s 400ft shot gave the Braves a 6-4 lead. The lone Braves all-star, Craig Kimbrel, came in and pitched a perfect ninth inning to put the Marlins away.  Kimbrel recorded his 24th save of the season. Game MVP: Justin Upton: 3-5, 3 R, 2 2B, HR, and 2 RBI’s The youngest of the Upton brother’s is my game MVP for the second straight night.  Upton scored every time he was on base during Tuesday’s game. Justin Upton was the game MVP, but both brothers really had a good day at the plate.  B.J finished the game 2-3.  During Tuesday’s game, the Upton brothers combined to go 5-8, 4 R, and 3 RBI’s.  A lot of Braves fans are hoping this is a sign of things to come for the two Upton brothers. The Upton brothers had a great night, but Julio Teheran cannot be overlooked.  It was a great job by a young pitcher to take care of the task at hand.  He did a great job going deep into the game and saving the Atlanta bullpen.  This helps greatly, since tomorrow is an afternoon game. The Braves will look for a series sweep on Wednesday afternoon.  Paul Maholm will look to get his 10th win of 2013 in tomorrow’s series finale.
