Jason Varitek to hang it up.
Variety is expected to announce his retirement tomorrow in Fort Myers, Florida. Once he retires, he will officially begin a new role with the club in the front office or minor league instructor.
He is 39-years-old and his play diminished last year, as the back up. He no longer had a role with the team.
He was a three-time All-Star in his career. And had a .256 batting average with a 193 home runs and 757 RBI’s in 15 major league seasons.
