Texas Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba has been suspended 66 games by the Venezuelan League on Monday for striking an umpire.
The suspension spans the remainder of this season and all of the next in the Venezuelan League.
Torrealba was ejected from a game after slapping an umpire in the mask while arguing at home plate.
The 33-year-old Torrealba struck out and then argued with Dario Rivera Jr. over the previous call. He eventually lost his cool, smacking Rivera in the protective mask and forcing the umpire to toss him from the game.
Torrealba batted .273 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs for Texas in 2011.
