Robin Ventura made it clear Sunday: The first-year manager plans on being around for the remaining two years on his contract with the Chicago White Sox.
He raised a few eyebrows Saturday when asked if he could ever see himself managing as long as a Walter Alston or Tommy Lasorda. Ventura said he couldn't and was just hoping to get through this season.
He clarified his answer when asked again Sunday, saying he plans to be around for two more years if the White Sox want him.
Chicago, in first place for 117 days this season, trailed Detroit by two games in the AL Central before Sunday's play.

The hope for the Chicago White Sox players was they wouldn't have to start talking about tough decisions the organization has to make this winter or the current roster being broken up until late October -- not on the first night of the month. While the White Sox claimed a big victory today, the Indians already had knocked Chicago out of playoff contention last week. Detroit’s Monday night victory clinched the AL Central for the Tigers, accomplishing an impressive September comeback to win the worst division in baseball.

The White Sox have completely collapsed, a huge part of which was the Indians last series win over Chicago. Unless both Cleveland and Detroit get swept this week, the Sox are officially out of the playoffs in 2012.
The Indians seem to have a newfound motivation with the introduction of Sandy Alomar, Jr. as manager. This team, which has struggled all season scoring runs, has...

The Rays played playoff caliber baseball in Chicago to take the series from the White Sox. They closed out the series in Cy Young type fashion.
Tampa Bay showed some offense over the series as they outscored Chicago 20-11 with half of those runs coming from Saturday’s 10-4 win. But David Price’s performance once again was the story of a series.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. There is nothing there. That whole thing about the White Sox winning the AL Central and the Tigers nose-diving at the unlucky hands of my delirious and oft thwarted colleague, Mr. Krause? I know not that of which you speak.
Also, please don’t hate me ‘cuz I was wrong.
And don’t get used to it… me, being wrong that is. It doesn’t...
