Found January 30, 2013 on Pro Sports Daily:
Andy Pettitte is out, but Justin Verlander might be in. Pettitte bowed out of the World Baseball Classic leaving an open spot on the U.S. squad that is in need of another starting pitcher. And according to CBSSports.com, Verlander "would love to be on the team." Verlander is expected to make a decision by Feb. 20. The final decision is based on how Verlander progresses during the early portion of spring training. The decision will be Erlanger's and not the Tigers. If he does join the U.S. team, Verlander will join a rotation that includes R.A. Dickey, Derek Holland and Ryan Volgelsong. Jake Peavy is also believed to be a candidate to join the team.

Open Letter to the Yankiverse: Shame, shame, SHAME ON YOU for hypocritcally turning on Arod!

Dear Madams and Sirs, Yesterday, you went crazy because Alex Rodriguez's name was found scribbled on a piece of paper in an abandoned office. Ever since, you've been combing the stygian depths of the legal profession in hopes of finding a way to screw Arod out of his contract - and thus save the Steinbrenners heirs a little money.Hey, with such loyal fans, the Yankees must...

Cano, Granderson, and Other CLIFFORD Candidates for 2013

I recently wrote about my attempt to design an indicator that would predict when players were at a higher risk for having a collapse-type year. I named the metric CLIFFORD, referring to the fact that players identified by it were at risk of falling off a cliff offensively. My inspiration was Adam Dunn and his disastrous 2011, in which his wOBA declined by .113. My initial research...
