Vicente Padilla would have been on the mound last night in Cleveland if he still had his spot in the rotation. Instead, that fell to Dustin Nippert, who had one bad inning that hurt his start (of course, his team couldn't get him any runs, either).
Padilla talked with Al Dia's Carlos Nava on Tuesday. Here's part of the story:
In his first interview since being released by the Texas Rangers, pitcher Vicente Padilla said he was surprised at the turn of events and denied being a "bad teammate," as he's being portrayed by management and some players.
Further, he said he just can't figure Rangers general manager Jon Daniels.
"I did not expect this... but, really, it's normal for these people to think crazy stuff. Honestly, I never understood what type of manager he (Daniels) is," said Padilla in a telephone interview from Miami, where the right-hander is training until another team comes a-knocking.
