Found October 07, 2013 on It's Always Sunny in Detroit:
via YouTube File this one under the “boy, things escalated quickly.”  In the ninth inning of Monday’s Game 3 of the ALDS between the A’s and Tigers, A’s closer Grant Balfour apparently didn’t like the way Victor Martinez was looking at him.  You can see V-Mart glaring out toward the mound after fouling off a pitch.  But it doesn’t seem inflammatory by any means. For whatever reason, Balfour didn’t appreciate it and let his emotions get the best of him (‘roid rage?!) and threw an F-bomb Martinez’s way.  Martinez returned serve with his F-bomb and the benches cleared. All in all, no harm, no foul except for what seems like a large two game to one lead for the A’s after Balfour closed the door on a 6-3 win Monday. The Tigers offense has been nothing short of brutal since the final Friday of the regular season.  Since the seventh inning of that game against the Miami Marlins (the first of a three game series), the Tigers have scored in three of their last 49 innings. Let me say that again. The Tigers have scored in THREE OF THEIR LAST FORTY-NINE INNINGS.  In those 49 innings, they have scored a total of seven runs.  That won’t cut it.  Hopefully for Tiger fans, V-Mart’s fire will spread tomorrow. Detroit Tigers v. Oakland A’s ALDS Game 5 preview

The Detroit Tigers rose from the ashes on Tuesday night to come back and tie the ALDS series 2-2 with the Oakland A’s. Game 5 will be played on Thursday night at the Coliseum and first pitch is set for 8:07 eastern. For the Tigers, it will once again be Justin Verlander taking the mound in Oakland for the clincher. He did that last year if you recall, and all he did was shut...

Grant Balfour and Victor Martinez add fireworks to Tigers-A's Game 3

Balfour Rage! Such a phenomenon didn't get its name because Grant Balfour is a quiet guy, someone who just throws his pitches and gets off the field. No, like many MLB closers, Balfour prepares for the task of closing out ballgames in the ninth inning by amping himself up into a competitive frenzy. Does the Oakland Athletics' closer do it to intimidate opposing hitters...

Martinez-Balfour blowup heats up ninth inning

DETROIT -- The more Victor Martinez and Grant Balfour tried to explain their screaming match Monday afternoon, the more they sounded like a pair of siblings squabbling on a long road trip. They screamed obscenities at each other and started a mess that ended with the benches and bullpens emptying in the ninth inning of a playoff game ... all because Martinez looked at Balfour. Neither...

Grant Balfour, Victor Martinez Exchange Expletives During Ninth Inning, Prompts Benches to Clear

The “Balfour Rage” reared its ugly head during Monday’s game against the Tigers. The volatile A’s closer, Grant Balfour, is known around the league for his hot-tempered ways, and during the ninth inning of the A’s Game 3 matchup in Detroit, Victor Martinez got a little taste of his anger. With the Tigers down by three and down to their last three outs, Martinez stepped...

Never wake a sleeping tiger!!!

It took 30 innings to get there, but the prolific bats of the Detroit Tigers finally showed up in grand fashion last night. On the heels of a game 3 that showcased a foul-mouthed Aussie closer throwing a tantrum on…Read more →

WATCH: Fan interferes with outfielder catch on home run by Tigers Victor Martinez

It must be an American League Division Series if a fan in the outfield seats reaches over the wall and interferes with a ball apparently heading for a glove in a critical, late inning situation.  Watch as this Detroit Tigers fan channels New York Yankees fan Jeffrey Maier (circa 1996) as he reaches over the railing on this Victor Martinez drive and bobbles a ball in which Oakland...

Benches clear in A’s-Tigers ALDS Game 3 as MLB Network airs several F-bombs

Things got testy at the end of the ALDS Game 3 between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. With the game all but rapped in favor of the A’s in the ninth inning, Victor Martinez fouled off a pitch from Grant Balfour. The  two then exchanged several “Fu$K you’s”, before both benches cleared. No punches were thrown but the bad blood between the these two should make for...

A's move one win from ALCS after beating Tigers

Grant Balfour and the Oakland Athletics aren't making many new friends in the Motor City. That's fine with Balfour, the high-strung Oakland reliever who nearly came face to face with Detroit's Victor Martinez while closing out the Tigers in Game 3 to send the defending AL champions to the brink of elimination. Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick and Seth Smith homered for the...

Was there interference on tying HR?

Settle down all you Jeffrey Maier comparison-makers. Victor Martinez's game-tying home run in Detroit's 8-6 victory over Oakland was a homer, just as the umpires ruled after a replay review. Watch Tuesday's controversial play from Game 4 of the ALDS: Your browser does not support iframes. But you have to wonder if the fan holding his beer towel over the fence was...

Tigers rally past A's, force Game 5

Max Scherzer escaped a major jam in relief and the Detroit Tigers -- helped by two fans who reached out to try to reel in Victor Martinez's disputed home run -- rallied past the Oakland Athletics 8-6 on Tuesday to force a decisive fifth game in their AL division series. Playing catch-up most of the way, the Tigers tied it first with Jhonny Peralta's three-run homer in the...

W: Parker (1-0)   L: Sanchez (0-1)  S: Balfour (1) DETROIT, Michigan Anibal Sanchez was knocked around for 6 runs, including a season high 3 home runs, as the Oakland Athletics have pushed the Detroit Tigers to the brink of elimination with a 6-3 win today at Comerica Park.
