Found July 28, 2013 on The Majors Detroit:
Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera was ejected from Sunday’s series finale with the Philadelphia Phillies in the third inning after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Chad Fairchild. Subsequently manager Jim Leyland was also ejected sticking up for his best player as the Tigers also had a bases loaded and one out situation while trailing 1-0.   Ironically though this wouldn’t be the first time Fairchild ejected a Tigers players during a very questionable circumstance. Back on July 11th, Fairchild ejected Tigers reliever Luke Putkonen for throwing behind White Sox shortstop Alexi Ramirez. This came after Chicago starter Chris Sale threw a high and tight pitch to Prince Fielder right after Cabrera hit a solo home run to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Needless to say Fairchild probably isn’t a big Tigers fan or Leyland fan right now for that matter.

There’s about to be a sigh of relief in the state of Michigan. The Tigers are starting to look like the dominant team they were supposed to be. With less than 100 hours left until the trade deadline, the Tigers are 7-3 since the All-Star Break and sit 14 games above .500, with a three-game lead over the Cleveland Indians. That was the big inhale for the sigh of relief. The beginning...

The incident occurred during the third inning during a bases loaded one out situation with the Tigers down 1-0 and the best hitter on the planet at the plate. Cabrera...

Update: MLB.com elected to remove the ability to embed the video of Miguel Cabrera’s ejection after previously allowing the option. It can be viewed at MLB.com. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the third inning of the Detroit Tigers’ series finale with the Philadelphia Phillies, Miguel Cabrera took exception to back-to-back strike calls and home plate umpire...

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera still bothered by hip

The good news is he's playing.  The bad news is his hip still hurts.  Miguel Cabrera, who was thrown out of yesterday's game for arguing, is battling lingering soreness in his hip.  He was able to avoid the DL when he first injured the hip, but he may need additional rest here and there. Matthew Mowery of the Detroit Free Press relayed manager Jim Leyland's comments...

The reigning Triple Crown winner is batting third and playing third base for Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He's hitting a major league-best .358 with 31 home runs and 96 RBIs. Detroit outfielder Torii Hunter is also back after...

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera sits again but might be back soon

Finally some definitive news about Miguel Cabrera. Good news in fact. After echoing manager Jim Leyland for three days in Chicago by saying only that Cabrera wasn’t ready to play trainer Kevin Rand provided his first extensive update about the Tigers third baseman Friday. “He’s made real good improvement” Rand said. “Obviously we held him out of the lineup today to get...

The Detroit Tigers were once again without two pivotal position players last night, as they had to open their weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies sans third baseman Miguel Cabrera and outfielder Torii Hunter. Tigers get Jose Veras, but Joaquin Benoit 'is my closer,' Jim Leyland says

The Tigers have been searching the trade market for a closer since the middle of spring training. Monday they got one. And he's not going to close. "Benoit is my closer period" manager Jim Leyland said a few minutes after the deal for Jose Veras was announced. That should hardly come as a surprise given that Joaquin Benoit has been basically perfect in the ninth...

Phillies Destroyed By Tigers Again, Go 1-8 on Road Trip

On Sunday, I watched some of the ugliest baseball since the mid-to-late-1990′s. Midre Cummings, Tony Longmire, and Kevin Sefcik were not in Detroit. Instead, the 2013 Phillies were in attendance, and they got spanked by the Tigers, 12-4. I look at this season like an 18-wheeler with no brakes headed down the side of a mountain. You’re not sure what’s going to stop it. Will...

Tigers sweep Phillies

DETROIT (AP) -- Jhonny Peralta's grand slam capped an eight-run sixth inning for Detroit, and the Tigers overcame Miguel Cabrera's ejection in a 12-4 win over the collapsing Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.
