Indians’ closer Chris Perez leads the MLB in saves with 20, and also seems to be one of the leaders in projectile vomiting as well.

He puked at least twice after clinching this save, and tried to laugh it off to no avail. Shelley Duncan played the role of the caring teammate by helplessly watching as the all-star closer dealt with some kind of sickness.

Chris Perez projectile vomits on the field after notching a save (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Chris Perez earned his MLB-best 20th save over the weekend, and it may have been his toughest of the season. On paper, it looked like a nice easy 4-1 win over the Cardinals where he had to do very little to secure the lead. As you can see from the video above, Perez’s usual celebration antics were toned down a bit on Saturday just before he...

Chris Perez Gets 20th Save Of Season, Promptly Throws Up To Celebrate (Video)

You'll often hear about rookies who get so nervous before a big game, they spend some quality time with the clubhouse toilets evacuating their systems before they take the field -- or not so elequently put, they throw up. But Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Chris Perez is far from a rookie. He has been in the league for nearly four years now and just yesterday captured his 20th...

Indians Closer Vomits on the Field

Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez has rebounded from a down year in 2011 to currently lead the AL in saves. On the mound Sunday to close out his 20th save of the season against the Cardinals, his former team, the heat or the excitement must have been too much for the outspoken closer who celebrated the victory by puking on the field. He seemed quite surprised, and entertained...

Cleveland Indians Chris Perez pukes after save (Video)

After closing out Sunday's Cleveland Indians/St. Louis Cardinals affair, Cleveland closer Chris Perez wasn't exactly feeling so hot. Watch as Perez decides to upchuck some of the contents of his stomach onto the field at Busch Stadium:

Report: Hannahan to begin rehab assignment

Hannahan is batting .276 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI this season. 772 OPS and .345 SLG. According to manager Manny Acta, he will need four or five rehab games before being recalled. The most interesting question...

Tribe Shutout for First Time in 2012

It took 58 games, but the Indians were finally held to zero runs for the first time this season. It came at the hands of right-hander Kyle Lohse with a little help from his bullpen. Justin Masterson pitched very well, but the Indians lost 2-0 last night and have now lost in six of Masterson’s last seven starts. Let’s start with Justin Masterson, who looked like the 2011 Justin...

Indians surging, Reds falling as series begins

While the Cleveland Indians have been hindered by injuries, Jason Kipnis has stepped up. Kipnis and the Indians look to continue their run Tuesday night when they open a three-game road series against the Cincinnati Reds. Cleveland won two of three against Detroit and St. Louis last week as part of a nine-game road trip. Kipnis hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the ninth Sunday...

Tribe Weekend Recap: Where My Heart is Cleft Asunder

Every three years the Indians play the Cardinals in Interleague Play, which means the team of my childhood plays the team of my (somewhat immature) adulthood. The last time this happened was 2009—during the depths of the Tribe rebuild. I brought up my brother and his wife for a weekend series that saw the Indians take two of three from the Cardinals, along with me doing shots...

Box Score: Indians 4, Cardinals 1

Kip. Kip. Boom. That’s the story of this one as Cardinals closer Jason Motte challenged Jason Kipnis with a 98 mph fastball that he deposited into the right field seats for a three-run homer that gave the Tribe a 4-1 victory. That Kipnis blast came after a dramatic bottom of the eighth where Vinnie Pestano walked the bases loaded with one out and then struck out Yadier Molina and...

Rosenthal: “What about Soriano to the Indians?”

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal wrote today about possible MLB trades, and brought up an interesting proposal for the Indians- “JUST A THOUGHT … And let’s be clear, this is my speculation only. But what about the Cubs’ Soriano to the Indians? No NL team will want the defensively challenged Soriano, but the guy can still hit. In fact, he leads the majors with 12 homers since...

Indians Need Power Boost

Heading into Tuesday’s games, the White Sox and Indians sit half a game apart atop of the American League Central division, with the expected division-winner Tigers five games back. This morning, Chris Cwik addressed the White Sox’ need to upgrade at third base to stay competitive in the division. The Indians need an upgrade as well–a big, powerful upgrade. The Indians’...
