Your browser does not support iframes.Detroit Tigers utilityman Don Kelly got his chance to start in left field on Tuesday. And he didn't disappoint.Kelly, 33, may be owed a nice steak dinner from Tigers pitchers Anibal Sanchez after robbing a home run hit by Toronto's J.P. Arencibia. The play came during the top of the second inning in Detroit's 7-3 win over the visiting Blue Jays. It also drew a nice applause from the crowd at Comerica Park.Watch as Kelly tracks down the ball, scales the wall, and reaches over the fence to make a run-saving snag.Nicely done.Via Big League Stew

It was a banner day for the Detroit Tigers. They won the game over the Blue Jays, 7-3. Newcomer TOri Hunter had his 2000th hit of his career. Miguel Cabrera couldn't miss; he went 4-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs.
However, as impressive as their play was my play of the day has to go to Don Kelly.
If you said who that's okay. Every team has a guy like Kelly. He'...
Detroit Tigers left fielder Don Kelly made an outstanding leaping grab at the wall, but was it better than the web gem Brandon Phillips gave us?
Previously on Outside the Boxscore, we've posted videos of young men/women attempting to score prom dates with athletes.
The latest comes to us from Detroit as one female high school student by the name of Bethany decided to ask Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello to her high school prom.
Below is the entire musical plea which uses Carly Rae Jepsen's hit song "Call Me...
Baseball, at its core, is a very simple game. You throw a ball, you try to hit a ball and you try to catch a ball. Those three elements are the very basics of a game that is going on its second century in age. Within those elements, today’s players have refined technique and power and everything else about the game to a staggering efficiency.... Read more
DETROIT Jose Valverde has worked through his passport problems, and threw a bullpen session Wednesday at extended spring training in Lakeland, Fla.
Valverde is scheduled to throw one inning Friday in an extended spring training game, and then to throw one or two innings Monday in a scrimmage.
He signed a minor league contract last week with the Detroit Tigers, and is expected...
Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez missed Tuesday's 7-3 win over Toronto after cutting his thumb on the bat rack at Comerica Park.
Martinez needed eight stitches in his right thumb after the mishap Sunday. He was listed as day-to-day.
Martinez hurt himself after an at-bat in Detroit's 7-0 loss to the New York Yankees. It was not clear how the accident occurred.
Torii Hunter, driven by his comfortable new surroundings, is locked in at the plate. (BeGreen90, Flickr)
When the Detroit Tigers signed Torii Hunter this past November, they knew they’d be getting an excellent clubhouse presence, a world famous defender and an illuminating personality.
What they probably didn’t anticipate receiving, however, was a .400 hitter who has looked capable...
Houston (Dallas?), we have image. Thank you, man!
Victor Martinez is day to day after cutting his thumb badly enough to require stitches. I think it’s time for some bat rack modifications. Jason Beck says no Kelly and no catch if V-Mart is in there. I say more runs for Tigers if Kelly isn’t. Not to take away from Don’s awesome play.
Today the Tigers are up against that old...
The Tigers bullpen has been awful so far this year. So awful, that it has cost the Tigers two wins so far. The bad news is that there isn’t help on the way.
Trades for bullpen pitchers don’t happen before the middle of May, and the free agent market is bare of guys that can help you quickly. The farm system isn’t full of exciting prospects either. This may be a long year in...
DETROIT -- It was a dangerous day for pitchers in general and a pretty tough one for the Tigers' bullpen.
Pitchers were getting hit -- literally. Those that weren't couldn't seem to find the plate.
Toronto starter Mark Buehrle was hit on the foot on a double-play ball by Alex Avila in the second inning, but remained in the game.
Detroit reliever Darin Downs managed...
DETROIT -- AL MVP Miguel Cabrera hit his first homer of the season and drove in four runs, left fielder Don Kelly made a home run-robbing catch and the Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 Tuesday.
The Blue Jays, who spent millions during the winter to upgrade their roster, fell to 2-5 for their worst start since 2004.
Cabrera, coming off his Triple Crown season, had four...
The Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays didn't get Cy Young-caliber performances in their previous games, but they haven't given their aces much room for error.
Perhaps they can provide their No. 2 starters better support.
Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez will try to help the Tigers win a fifth in a row in this series on Tuesday when Brandon Morrow takes the hill for...
Greatness. Sometimes you expect to see it and even when you do, it’s still amazing when something happens that reminds you of why greatness was expected all along. We’ll wax rhapsodic about a certain All-Star’s greatness in due course. But first…
A match up happened on Tuesday between two teams that were on most short-lists for contending teams in the American League in...
It's time for more web gems. Yesterday you saw a great defensive play by Brandon Phillips face an amazing leaping catch at the wall by Don Kelly of the Tigers. Kelly was able to overtake the 4-time reigning web gem through fan voting. Today however, Todd Frazier has shown up to avenge the loss by Phillips and reclaim glory for Cincinnati.
Frazier came up with his own nice...
