Rangers reliever Dustin Nippert took a line drive off the head last night in a win over the Tigers. Centerfielder Austin Jackson ripped a shot straight up the middle and Nippert had no time to protect himself. The ball caught him on the right side of the head leaving a visible knot almost immediately. Thankfully, he walked away from the incident unscathed.
Nippert was taken immediately to nearby Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where CT scan results were negative. Fairly amazing considering the ball hit him so hard that it caromed all the way into shallow left field.
