From Bush League Chronicle:
Nature called on Wednesday night for Boston Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia. The 3-time All-Star and former AL MVP (2008) exited the game against the New York Yankees during the seventh inning after being informed by manager Bobby Valentine that his wife, Kelli, had gone into labor. The Pedroias are expecting their second child.
Aside from helping produce the greatest miracle known to mankind (birth) the 28-year-old has been a lone bright spot for the disappointing Red Sox this season. He currently sports a batting average of .295 to go along with 15 homers, 60 RBI and 34 doubles. His team, however, finds itself alone in last place in the American League East Division at 64-79, and has many around Beantown clamoring for Valentine to be fired. The club virtually threw in the white towel recently when they traded away a handful of their best players, thus ending hope for a late-season resurgence.
But for now, Red Sox Nation gets finally gets a dose of good news in 2012.
