With that said, his most recent one came in unusual fashion on Friday night as the 24-year old legged out an inside-the-parker to give the Reds a 1-0 at the time. His ball certainly didn't clear the fence, but it goes down as a homer in the box score nonetheless, no. 14 on the season to be exact. Bruce had this to say following the game: "They said I looked terrible when I got to the dugout. But I thought I looked fine. I felt fine," Bruce said as a teammate yelled out "speed demon!" in the clubhouse. "Had enough gas to be safe, so that's all that matters." It was the first career grand slam for the Beaumont, Texas native and the first by a Red since Drew Stubbs nailed one nearly one year to the date on June 17, 2011.
