If the initial diagnosis of John Lackey's arm injury is any indication, he and the Boston Red Sox should consider themselves lucky. After throwing a pitch to Jose Reyes in the 5th inning, Lackey left the game with his right arm hanging there, eerily reminiscent of when a pitcher tears the UCL or does something to their shoulder. Your browser does not support iframes. Fortunately for the Red Sox and Lackey, the tests after the game showed his surgically repaired elbow was strong and that he suffered a biceps strain. He'll return to Boston for further testing. With Franklin Morales still out for the Red Sox and if Lackey is expected to miss a start, we can expect Alfredo Aceves to step in for him until he returns unless the injury is serious. But we'll wait for that. As much as we all hate Lackey, it was awful to see him hurt like that. Hopefully things turn out okay for him. Follow Ian on Twitter @soxanddawgs.
