The Majors Detroit:
During last year’s playoff run the Tigers used a pre-game dance called the Haka, a traditional Māori war dance used to intimidate opponents. This year though the Tigers led by Joba Chamberlain decided to go with dance where you bounce around and waive your spirit fingers above your head
Miguel Cabrera looks like he disapproves.

BEST OF MAXIM
According to fans who were there, the Tigers celebrated some nice weather with a pre-game dance before a game against the Orioles last weekend. That’d be reliever Joba Chamberlain in the knit cap leading the bunch of convulsing white guys. Miguel Cabrera didn’t approve.
I absolutely approve.
We’ve already gotten a good look at Miguel Cabrera’s odd (yet hilarious) MLB 14: The Show ads featuring his ‘Miguelitas’ and today we’re getting another installment. This new ad, which highlights year-to-year save feature on the new game, shows Miggy – the MLB 14 cover athlete in the United States – and a couple of his best supporters working out on a super windy oceanfront...
When Joe Nathan signed a two-year deal during the offseason, the Tigers and many of their fans thought they were getting stability in the backend of the Tigers otherwise questionable bullpen. After all, despite nearing 40 years old, Nathan had saved 80 games over his previous two seasons with an ERA just over 2.00 and a WHIP under 1.00.
Well, Nathan has blown two of his first three...
Max Scherzer (ND) struck out 8 in 7 innings
The Detroit Tigers opened up interleague play on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a potential World Series matchup.
The Dodgers took the first of a two-game series, beating Detroit 3-2 in the tenth inning.
Chone Figgins scored the winning run for Los Angeles on a ball hit to left field by Carl Crawford. Joba Chamberlain...
TOLEDO, Ohio -- It's been eight years since left-hander Nate Robertson was a member of a Detroit Tigers pitching rotation that won an American League pennant, and four years since he last threw a ball in the majors.
He's endured a host of injuries -- including taking a line drive off his left elbow -- and setbacks before having a decent season last year at Triple-A for the...
Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera recorded his 2,000th-career hit last Friday on a 2-run homer against the Baltimore Orioles
The Detroit Tigers opened up the first week of the 2014 Major League Baseball season in dramatic fashion with back-to-back walk-off victories against the Kansas City Royals.
The series finale against the Royals was eventually postponed (make-up date set for...
The Tigers (5-2) are in San Diego, where it’s always baseball weather, for three against the Padres (3-6). Rick Porcello makes the start for Detroit, facing Andrew Cashner.
Obviously, not much history between these two clubs, but there was one famous series (famous if you’re a Detroit or San Diego fan, anyway) back in 1984. I followed the Tigers’ magical season game in and...
First off: Poop joke. Secondly: next poop joke. Good, now is it out of your system? Well if it ain't, pinch it off we've got to keep dropping these DraftKings posts like they're hot. Alright, alright, we can't get things moving with you so backed up on this topic. Here, have some yogurt. Better? Good! Now I have to ask you to draft a guy who's only $6...
Speed and the Detroit Tigers have pretty much mixed like oil and water since Ty Cobb departed 88 years ago.
Detroit hasn't had anybody lead the league in steals since Brian Hunter swiped 74 in 1997. And Ron LeFlore, with 68 steals in 1978, is the franchise's only other leader in that category since 1930.
But new starting left fielder Rajai Davis could change that. He should...
Vin on Torii by random_sports One of the qualities about Vin Scully that separates him from every other broadcaster out there — you know, besides his literary allusions, great cadence and pleasant and smooth call — is his storytelling ability. You could give the same background information about a player to 10 different broadcasters, and […]
4-2, 1st place, .5 games up. Magic number is 155 (I think).
I managed to catch the Crawford double right as I went to bed last night. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well.
Sanchez v. TBD tonight. Someone please post the lineups. I’m traveling, so the post-game may be a little late.
Interesting stat of the day: A Sanchez W today would be the first of the season for any of Verlander...
It was a late and long affair in Los Angeles, but the Tigers continued to grind and earned their first road victor of the season against a formidable Dodgers team. Victor Martinez came through with the big hit. Staff writer Nick Shlain fought sleep deprivation in his favorite chair.
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Carl Crawford hit an RBI double in the 10th inning, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.
The Tigers were down to their final out in the ninth when Victor Martinez got Max Scherzer off the hook with an RBI single against Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen -- who had just struck out two-time AL MVP Miguel Cabrera ...
The Tigers played a good team on the road and came up on the losing end of a tight game. They fought hard with a good start from reigning Cy Young winner Max Scherzer and a late rally, but it simply wasn't enough to get by the Dodgers on Tuesday. Staff writer Nick Shlain has the recap.
