The Tampa Bay Rays knocked off the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, at Fenway Park on Tuesday night to stay within three games back of the American League Wild Card. It's not likely the Rays will overcome the deficit considering there's only eight games to go, but the displaced Rays fans in the video clip above sure hope they do.   There are many thoughts that arise after seeing this video. The first being that I had no idea there were Rays fans outside of the St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area, let alone in the city of a division rival. The second? How in the world were they able to sneak these mannequin heads into the stadium? And maybe more importantly, why did they feel the need to do so?   Perhaps the odd spectacle was meant to draw awareness to the fact that there are indeed Rays fans outside of south Florida. Or maybe it was just a ploy to help boost the numbers in the fan base? Hey, mannequins count as fans right?   Whatever the case may be, it's not hard to see why Tampa Bay fans would deploy such a shenanigan. They rank dead last in Major League Baseball in attendance this season (19,418), and were 28th in 2011 (18,878).
