The St. Louis Cardinals had not scored any runs in April for right-hander Adam Wainwright in his first 19 2/3 innings over four starts. Not surprisingly, Wainwright, who had not pitched all that well in a couple of those games, was 0-3. But with the advent of May, the Cardinals' offense was in full bloom Tuesday. A three-run homer by third baseman David Freese, a two-run drive by shortstop Rafael Furcal and a solo homer shot by left fielder Matt Holliday helped provide a 10-7 win over Pittsburgh. Wainwright, coming back after missing a year because of elbow surgery, gained his first win since Sept. 24, 2010. He gave up two homers but just three other hits and four runs in seven innings. "I think if you look at 90 percent of my game, it was pretty good," said Wainwright, who improved to 1-3 with 6.75 ERA this season. "I feel like each time I'm getting a little sharper."
