ARLINGTON, Texas With the trade deadline looming, Texas manager Ron Washington wouldn't mind seeing his club add something to the roster before Tuesday's non-waiver deadline. "We can use a good pitcher," Washington said when asked if the club needed a No. 1 pitcher. "We need a lot of things. If it happens to be a No. 1 Jon Daniels gets, if he gets it, fine. We need a good pitcher." The Rangers suffered a huge blow this week when right-hander Colby Lewis was lost for the season after tearing his flexor tendon. Lewis had successful surgery on the arm Friday and no ligament damage was found. The Rangers' need for a move may have ramped up Friday as American League West rival Los Angeles acquired right-hander Zack Greinke from Milwaukee. The Rangers had been linked with Greinke and the Brewers had scouted Texas prospects Jurickson Profar and Mike Olt. Tampa Bay's James Shields and Miami's Josh Johnson are the two biggest pitchers that may be available via trade and the Rangers have a deep farm system. Texas has made big trades before the deadline the last two seasons but that doesn't mean anything will happen this year. The trade deadline isn't Washington's focus either. "The No. 1 need on my wish list is to keep winning," he said. "That's what I need." Rangers flip Oswalt, Feldman Right-hander Roy Oswalt, who was originally scheduled to start Sunday's game against Chicago, will not start Monday's series opener against Los Angeles. Oswalt threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Friday and had no problems. He said he could have started Sunday's game if needed by pitching coach Mike Maddux made the decision to flip him and Scott Feldman. Feldman, who allowed one run in seven innings in his last start, will start Sunday's game on his regular four-days' rest. Oswalt was skipped the last time through the rotation because of lower-back stiffness. He received an injection in the back and has been fine since then. Improvement for Napoli Mike Napoli was back in the starting lineup Friday after hurting his left quad trying to break up a double play in Tuesday's game. Napoli didn't play Wednesday and was the designated hitter Friday. Texas manager Ron Washington thinks Napoli will be able to catch this weekend. Napoli said his quad was still a little sore when he runs but didn't think it would be an issue. Rehab update Right-hander Mark Lowe will begin his rehab assignment Saturday by pitching an inning for Double A Frisco. First baseman Mitch Moreland also returned to the Frisco lineup after missing two days after the birth of his son. Moreland could join the Rangers as early as Sunday.
