Found 15 days ago on Reading Between The Seams:
In Monday’s game at Fenway Park, right fielder Dayan Viciedo of the Chicago White Sox belted a three-run homer off Boston Red Sox’ starter Clay Buchholz. The White Sox would win 4-0 and the Red Sox would subsequently slip into last place in the American League East. Then against Brandon Workman, with the bases loaded and nobody out in the second inning, Viciedo hit a roller to first baseman Mike Napoli. Napoli dropped it, then an attempt to pick it up he flinched as if it was a bee. (via YouTube)     The White Sox would score two runs in the inning, then go on to win 8-3. The Red Sox remain in last place in the AL East and 10 games back in the wild card race. The White Sox are 7 1/2 back in the American League Central and 5 1/2 back in the wild card. Red Sox Injury Update: Mike Carp, Shane Victorino

The Boston Red Sox have activated first baseman Mike Carp from the disabled list and sent utility man Jonathan Herrera to Triple-A to make room on the roster. In Addition, Shane Victorino will resume playing in Minor League rehab games on Wednesday, July 9. Red Sox beat writer Dave D'Onofrio of Boston.com confirmed the report on Carp, and the Red Sox tweeted the message of...

The 2014 Red Sox and the Importance of One Effin’ Run

The Red Sox are officially in last place. Which I can deal with. Living through the Danny Darwin era makes a man strong. What kills me though is one of the primary reasons they’ve slipped that far: an inability to close the deal in one-run games. The Sox have dropped a staggering 19 one-run games this season. 19 games. And it’s maddening to think that if they’d won just half...

Red Sox are Weak – NEED to be Sellers.

From worst-to-first-to-worst. The Boston Red Sox have now fallen to 10 games under .500. This places them at the bottom of the American League East, falling 9 games out of first place to the Baltimore Orioles. So, is it safe to say that the Red Sox will be selling off their valuable pieces this month? Or could a solid week of play turn it all around? Let’s be honest here, guys…...

Media To Focus On Jon Lester’s Contract During All-Star Game (Video)

Jon Lester was selected to his third All-Star Game on Sunday. WEEI.com’s Rob Bradford joined “Red Sox Gameday Live” and applauded the way Lester has handled his contract situation with the media so far, and also talked about how the increased media attention is just going to be something pending free agents have to deal with for the rest of the season. “Cole Hamels had to...

Red Sox Storm Back To Beat Pale Hose, 5-4

(Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)If you turned off tonight's Red Sox game in the eight inning—with Boston down 4-0—you can be forgiven. What were the odds that The Olde Towne Team would score 3 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to win, 5-4? Pretty good odds, apparently. Brock "Babe" Holt capped the rally with a walk-off single, scoring pinch-hitter Daniel Nava with the...

After suffering another tough loss at the hands of the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday evening the Red Sox made a move to designate their starting catcher, A.J. Pierzynski for assignment.

Koji Selected to Replace Tanaka at the All Star Game

Koji Uehara is going to the All Star Game for the first time in his career.  Uehara was selected to replace Masahiro Tanaka on the roster.  Tanaka was placed on the 15 Day DL with a right arm issue and therefore will not be able to pitch in the game.  Uehara will join fellow Red Sox Jon Lester at Target Field for the All Star Game on Tuesday July 15th. Congrats to Koji!  It is much deserved!

Final call White Sox fans, #TargetSale in All-Star Game

As Chris Sale was left off the American League All-Star team on Sunday, the backlash started to hurdle in on John Farrell for his decision. Although every team needed at least one representative, Dellin Betances, the New York Yankees setup man, was selected. If starters can just pitch one inning of work in the All-Star game, why would Farrell select Betances over Sale, one of the...

Red Sox Starting To Take Forward-Looking Approach With Personnel Moves

BOSTON — There was no white flag waving in the Red Sox’s clubhouse, manager John Farrell didn’t recite a eulogy while speaking with reporters and no one wore black to signify the death of Boston’s World Series defense. But Wednesday marked the unofficial beginning of the Red Sox looking toward the future. The Red Sox designated veteran catcher A.J. Pierzynski for assignment...

Red Sox’s Shared Frustration Building As Offensive Problems Continue

BOSTON — The Red Sox’s story remains unchanged. The Red Sox’s bats again were silenced Monday as the Chicago White Sox rolled to a 4-0 win at Fenway Park. Boston fell to 1-6 on its current 10-game homestand and to 39-50 on the season, leaving those within the clubhouse walls feeling increasingly frustrated at this season’s developments. “I think there’s a shared frustration...

Peavy on trades: ‘Don’t think people are making stuff up’

Photo/The Eagle Tribune It looks like Jake Peavy might be on the move. The 33-year-old Boston Red Sox pitcher has been rumored in some juicy trade talks that have quickly gained steam over the past 24 hours. The main talks involve a deal that would send Peavy to the St. Louis Cardinals for outfielder/first baseman Allen Craig. ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes first reported the interest...

Game 90: Sox look for much-needed win against Chicago

Photo from MLB.comConor Frederick (@C_Frederick1016)Contributing WriterThe Red Sox need a win tonight. Really badly. They need to get into the win column and save their season before they don't have a season to save. Granted, some fans don't think there's a season to save, but I'm not one of those. I still think this team can go on a tear, but it has to start tonight...
