Found June 02, 2013 on Reading Between The Seams:
The Baltimore Orioles SP Jason Hammel broke one of the cardinal unwritten rules of baseball.  If you’re going to throw at someone, you don’t throw at their head. After giving up back-to-back-to-back home runs to Detroit Tigers sluggers Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta, and Alex Avila, Jason Hammel had apparently had enough and was ready to hit the showers.  He hastened his exit by throwing right at the next batter Matt Tuiasosopo’s helmet.  WATCH: (image courtesy of CBSSports.com Eye on Baseball): Credit CBSSports.com Eye on Baseball Jason Hammel and Buck Showalter feebly argued that it was a slider, but this just in folks, pitchers can aim sliders, too.  They do it for a living.  I see a suspension coming from the commissioner’s office on this one, no doubt the intent and going for the head has no place in the game.  Credit Tuiasosopo for self-restraint, in my mind he had every right to make a more aggressive display of anger after that unfortunate choice by Hammel. -David Whitlock (@lhd_on_sports) Follow us on Twitter @rbts_baseball The post WATCH: Jason Hammel gives up back-to-back-to-back bombs, then headhunts appeared first on Reading Between The Seams.
