You can officially cross off Brandon Webb being in a Diamondbacks uniform next march. The veteran right-hander signed a one-year deal with the Texas Rangers on Monday. The deal is worth $3 million, but it could go up to as much as $8-10 million if Webb reaches certain incentives.
With losing Cliff Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies and missing out on trading for Zach Greinke, the Rangers had a big hole to fill in their rotation. Despite Webb pitching only four innings the last two years, they felt that he had the most upside out of any pitcher left on the market. He will join a rotation consisting of C.J. Wilson, Colby Lewis and Tommy Hunter in Texas.
Webb signing elsewhere shouldn’t surprise any to D’Back fans. There was next to a zero chance of him coming back in an Arizona uniform.
