Raise the Jolly Roger!:
Los Angeles Dodgers
It was apparent right away that Wednesday’s game was going to be another disaster for the Pirates. To start the night, Shane Victorino hit a tapper towards third and Josh Harrison threw it away for an error. Then a single put men at the corners for the Dodgers with no outs and Matt Kemp up.
Kemp hit a slow roller up the middle, which was hardly a bad result…until Neil Walker fell down hard after stepping on second and firing to first while avoiding the runner. He landed on his right hand and it looked like he was seriously hurt. It turns out he’s got a dislocated pinky–probably the best thing we could’ve hoped for after seeing the play–but he’ll still be out for some period of time. We’ll know more tomorrow.
Anyway, the Bucs were down 1-0 without one of their best hitters and facing Clayton Kershaw. They went down 1-2-3 in the first, but actually did a very nice job tying the game in the second when Gaby Sanchez led off with a double and came around to score on two long flyouts.

Shhshh Matt Kemp, all you gotta do is say earmuffs. For any of you Old School fans out there. Earlier today in a game between the Pirates and Dodgers, Matt Kemp was ejected for whatever he said in the dugout. If you check the video out at Deadspin you’ll see the kid’s father putting his hands around his kid’s ears.
Kemp was a tad vulgar today with his wording, and he even...

In Thursday's Dodgers-Pirates game, home plate umpire Angel Campos ejected Dodgers star center fielder Matt Kemp from the game while Kemp was sitting on the bench for arguing balls and strikes. Kemp struck out to end the first inning, and his ejection came four pitches into Andre Ethier's at bat to lead off the second.
After Kemp was...
In case you’ve been living under a rock or something, Dodgers fans are rightfully concerned that Matt Kemp might be in a bit of hot water after yesterday’s game, where he bumped/ran into/pushed back an umpire or two during a heated argument with basically the entire crew. “Let’s go, Dre!” Those apparently were the words
Thin-skinned umpires are everywhere these days. In the minors, they’re ejecting DJ’s and PA announcers for playing “Three Blind Mice” in response to a questionable call. And in the majors, they’re ejecting players for cheering for their teammates as Matt Kemp found out last night.
To be fair, umpire Angel Campos had to listen to Kemp jaw from the dugout about his calls...
I stumbled across an auction for one of the best parallels in recent years, and with the combination of Matt Kemp and a great price being involved, well, you know I just had to add another sweet card to my Bison PC.Numbered 15/60 (one of those cross-sports 1/1s I'm so fond of), it's the first Hope Diamond that will find a permanent home in my collection. The card commemorates...
That's right. A cardgasm. See for yourselves what precipitated this excited reaction of mine towards a piece of cardboard.OH. SNAP. Numbered 23/99 - and had it been 22 or 27, I may have broken the internet - this bad boy ran me just $10.08 delivered. It's headed straight for my Bison PC, and is a most welcome addition, as you might imagine. This card raises an interesting...
Dad's move is straight out of Old School!
Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp got a little fiesty on Thursday night during the second inning of play against the Pirates. Kemp was EJECTED from the game while sitting in the dugout. Home plate umpire Angel Campos ejected the All-Star for arguing balls and strikes. Kemp struck out to end the first inning, and his [...]
Umpire Angel Campos caught a case of the rabbit ears today and put on an ump show for the ages, ejecting Matt Kemp for cheering Andre Ethier, which led to Don Mattingly’s ejection. After the game, Kemp said he was told by Campos that he’d heard enough on the balls and strikes, so Kemp simply
Adrian Gonzalez was ejected from the bench on Wednesday night, a decision which he didn't seem too upset about. Moments later, his manager, Bobby Valentine, came out to passively argue that decision by the umpire. Shortly thereafter, Valentine was given the thumb and sent to the showers. A day later, Matt Kemp and Don Mattingly showed Gonzalez and Valentine how it was really...
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Garrett Jones hit two three-run homers, A.J. Burnett became the first Pirates pitcher with 15 wins in 13 years, and Pittsburgh avoided a four-game sweep with a 10-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
Jones had a career-high six RBIs, and Pedro Alvarez also homered for the Pirates, who had lost six of seven.
The Dodgers, who lead the NL West by...
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly spoke with former Dodgers manager Joe Torre by phone today and came away from it expecting to be suspended for his role in Thursday’s dustup. However, he’s hoping that Matt Kemp will escape with just a fine, despite his prominent role in the mess. After a Friday phone call with Major
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Clayton Kershaw won his fourth consecutive start, Matt Kemp drove in three runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers moved into first place in the NL West with a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night.
Kemp had a two-run double and scored during the Dodgers' three-run fourth against Wandy Rodriguez. Shane Victorino singled and scored in that inning...
Remember when Matt Kemp was tearing up the league in April, and everyone who didn't have a top-three pick was upset they never had the chance to draft him? And then it was Josh Hamilton ? on pace for 100 home runs and 1,000 RBI through the end of May. Now it's Mike Trout who despite wasting three weeks in the minors leads the majors in runs scored with 80 and steals with...
