It’s early, so early in fact that making a guess at the opening day lineup when only pitchers and catchers have reported is silly. But, I am going to do it anyway. I will start by making a couple of assumptions:
Cueto is going to be the opening day starter.
Cozart is going to come back, 100% to the form that we saw for a short period last season.
So with those two assumptions, you could envision the lineup for the opener to look like this:
1 ) Drew Stubbs, Center Field
2 ) Brandon Phillips, Second Base
3 ) Joey Votto, First Base
4 ) Jay Bruce, Right Field
5 ) Scott Rolen, Third Base
6 ) Devin Mesoraco, Catcher
7 ) Chris Heisey, Left Field
8 ) Zack Cozart, Shortstop
9 ) Johnny Cueto, Pitcher
This is solid, however, I also could envision how some things could change this.
1. Stubbs is fast, but is unable to use his speed as much as Reds fans would like. As David pointed out Heisey had better numbers last year and his numbers seem to jump when he is playing in center field. So Stubbs...
