(US Press Wire) I have had my fair share of disagreements with giant’s manager Bruce Bochy in previous years, and I’m sure many other disgruntled Giants fans feel the same way. Bochy is known to start the scrappy “old” veteran who oncce was good over ten years ago when steriods wasn’t labeled “cheating”. We watched Miguel Tejada, Aubrey Huff, Edgar Renteria, Pat Burrell, Rich Aurillia and Bengie Molina fill up starting positions like nobody’s business. All of these guys were/are on the wrong side of 30-years-old and they all blocked young, cheap talented prospects from playing time. Molina blocked Buster Posey big time, almost costing him the NL Rookie of the Year award in 2010, and now Aubrey Huff is taking away the precious starts from young phenom, Brandon Belt. Belt has played less than a season after being written down for a roster spot at the beginning of the 2011 season. He cried with joy and cherished every moment in the big le...

Giants Sign Adam Thomas, Yusmeiro Petit

Catching up on the Giants’ transactions: a little late to these, but the Giants have made a couple more minor-league signings… According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Giants signed right-hander Adam Thomas. He didn’t pitch at all from 2008 to 2010, but he posted a 1.73 ERA (4.08 K/BB) in 57 innings of relief in the Atlantic League this year. He’s 32...

SF Giants Rumors: Chris Haft Chimes In On 2012 Offense

Chris Haft of MLB.com tells SF Giants Rumors that he sees Melky Cabrera and Angel Pagan as assets overall, but thinks the offensive help they’ll provide will be only incremental. He says the San Francisco Giants are hoping both players will be motivated to have big years because they’re heading into free agency.   Haft does believe the Giants can have a decent lineup...

Gnome Sweet Gnome: My plan to take Brian Wilson with me to every NL ballpark in America

“I’m gonna get that Weezy gnome and take a picture with it at every NL baseball park. Step 1…get that gnome.” Those are the words I tweeted this evening upon seeing the highly-anticipated and much-ballyhooed Brian Wilson Garden Gnome, which was unveiled by the San Francisco Giants twitter team today (pictured below). You’ve seen those pictures on the...

Remember back in November when the San Francisco Giants announced plans to have a Brian Wilson Gnome night?Well, on Thursday, the team showed it off via Twitter. My guess is that the team is praying their colorful closer doesn't decide to shave anytime soon. So, yeah, on May 20, be one of the first 20,000 fans to see the Giants take on the Oakland A's and get your gnome. Or...

Aubrey Huff on 2011 season: “My head was in the toilet”

In an interview today with San Francisco Chronicle writer Henry Schulman, Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff admitted that his poor 2011 season had more to do with being mentally out of shape than physically. Specifically, the 33-year old Huff said: “I’m not going to lie to you. I heard it. I read it. It’s warranted. When you had the year I had before, finishing...

Is the Giants’ Best Hitter in Danger of Losing his Job?

Call it a small sample size if you want. But in just 187 at-bats, 1B/OF Brandon Belt proved to be the best hitter in the entire San Francisco Giants organization.

Not That Color

There are some things that one just should not have to suffer for a job.  Wearing the color of your rivals, every day? … In the meantime, the San Francisco Giants released a promo picture of the Brian Wilson garden gnome, and it looks… Sunglasses?  Really? I suppose it could be worse.  It is a free giveaway.  But it just looks so…cheap.  Which Brian Wilson...

Aubrey Huff repentant, shaping up for 2012

Aubrey Huff's employers called him out, publicly and forcefully, and he did not say a peep. He let the criticism of his conditioning hang in the air, like a curveball with no break, and refused to swing. Instead, he...
