Found January 30, 2009 on tampabayraysfan.com:

As we inch closer and closer to the start of a new season in which our Tampa Bay Rays are defending their American East League title, the need to put some more structure to the content on Tampa Bay Rays Fan is, in my mind, becoming increasingly more important with each waking second.

When I created the idea for this page, I knew that this certainly would NOT be the first sports blog ever. There are thousands of them all over the web.

Some are REALLY good and others are REALLY bad.

Some focused and others helter-skelter.

Some that are bland and very traditional and others that are eye catching and fun.

I have been doing a lot of research about what people seem to like, and what I think is appealing to the readers that may happen to come across this page.

Of course, like any good sports blog there will be endless amounts of stories full of numbers, and statistics, wins and losses, injury news, player progression and things of that nature…that you can really, find anywhere.

What I hope to offer is a unique perspective on the team through my eyes, and through the eyes of any reader or fan who wishes to get involved and have a sounding board to speak what is on their mind.

That coupled with a few light hearted features that some bloggers out their touch on, and some have not thought of, will provide what I believe will be the most comprehensive fan site on the world wide web, about the most exciting team in all of Major League Baseball.

That said…here is what you should expect in a pretty rigid and timely schedule.

"Weekly Preview"

Sundays will bring a brief to the point overview of the coming week for the team. That the important games and pitching matchups are, what injuries are of concern, what the grumblings are around the league as a whole and where the rest of the AL East stands. Pretty straight forward and probably what you are used to seeing on most fan pages or media outlets that cover baseball.

"Minor League Mondays"

Mondays, you will see a recap of what has happened in the prior week throughout our minor league farm system aptly named "Minor League Mondays" It will be a recap of what players are hot, what the team's streaks look like, who we are going to likely see in a Ray's uniform before the end of the year. While I can't be everywhere at once to see these games in person, I will do my very best to provide creative content, that is not your "local" newspapers regular everyday coverage of the team. Of course, this is a FAN driven blog, so any information, stories, pictures or correspondence you may come across or can provide original content for is more than welcome for submission on the page. If you don't know how to do that just email me at thomas.gemkow@tampabayraysfan.com and I will teach you how.

"What happened to him Wednesdays"

Of course you can never know where you are going without knowing where you have already been. Wednesdays will provide a look back at the career a former Ray's player, documenting the highlights and happenings of their time with the team, and if it can be tracked down, what the heck they are doing with their lives now. Having followed the team since inception in 1998 I can remember most all of the players who have made a contribution to this franchise…and since there are a lot of new fans that jumped on the bandwagon with our teams new found success, a few of them may need a crash course in team history…and they will know just where to find it, every Wednesday.

"Fantasy League Fridays"

Friday will be a post dedicated to the success (or if history repeats itself) failure of my fantasy baseball team I put together through Yahoo. Why would I want to write about this? Why would you care about it? Well, you may not, but it will provide comic relief to many of you out there, it will give me a platform to vent on so I don't pull my hair out when I start losing, and well, hopefully, someone will connect with it and realize…they aren't the only one who is having a HORRIBLE fantasy season, because after-all…who really has ever had one that goes their way?

"Weekly Recap"

Finally, to wrap up each week, Saturday's post will be a recap of what the prior week brought. Who the heroes were, who we expect to be hot and carry us through the coming week. A sort of Readers Digest like snap shot of the prior week's happening.

Of course, sprinkled in between the content mentioned above that will be 100% original, non regurgitated, easy to read stuff, you will see RSS feeds from major media outlets that cover the Rays, links to other fan sites covering our team because at www.tampabayraysfan.com we like to spread the love amongst our fellow blogging fans, and when the mood strikes I will throw in my opinion on what's going on with the team both through video and the ole' pen and paper. You will see links to great deals on Ray's apparel and memorabilia sprouting up in the coming weeks. You will see links to videos created by other Ray's fans that have been posted on YouTube and other various media sites, because as I have said before, I want this to be your one stop shop for comprehensive Ray's coverage I need to know what YOU want to see also. Please email me at thomas.gemkow@tampabayraysfan.com and let me know what you are itching to see make it onto this page. It is an outlet I am making for you the fellow fans of the Rays Nation.

Hope to hear from you all soon…and LET'S GO RAYS!!
