Brian McCann went 5-for-10 w/ a homer and 5 RBI vs MIL
On Sunday afternoon, the Atlanta Braves completed a 3-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers with a 7-4 victory at Turner Field. It was the fifth straight win for Atlanta, which pushed the team over the .500 mark at 5-4 after a dreadful 0-4 start.
Here’s what we learned from the Braves’ sweep of the Brewers…
Atlanta scored 19 runs, highlighted by longballs from Brian McCann, Matt Diaz, Chipper Jones and Jason Heyward.
The bullpen went unscathed, with the exception of a rough 1-inning outing by Eric O’Flaherty in game-1 of the series and another poor showing from Chad Durbin in the series finale.
Mike Minor and Brandon Beachy each turned in 7- inning gems (Minor recorded one out in the 8th inning) in which neither allowed an earned run.
Jair Jurrjens struggled in his second start of the young season, allowing 5 earned runs through 5 innings of work. What’s more, he surrendered his 3rd and 4th ...

Mike Minor wasn't optimistic after the first couple of innings on Saturday. He had no reason to be.
His control was erratic he walked the first batter of the game and hit the first guy he faced in the second. He wasn't fooling anyone. He couldn't even get on the same page with catcher Brian McCann.
Only two double plays saved him and the Atlanta Braves from severe...
The Brewers made a minor move after last night's game, moving shortstop Alex Gonzalez to the paternity list. Gonzalez's wife is in Florida and is due to give birth soon. In his place, the club called up infielder Eric Farris from Nashville. Gonzalez should only be gone for a few days, and nobody can fault him for wanting to be with his family at this time, but the Brewers are...
ATLANTA (AP) -- Chipper Jones hit a three-run homer in his return after missing two games, Brandon Beachy pitched seven strong innings and the surging Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4 on Sunday for a three-game sweep.
Jason Heyward also homered for the Braves, who have won five straight after losing their first four games. Beachy gave up three hits and one unearned run in seven...
Do you remember those four straight losses to begin the season?
I didn't think so.
The Braves don't either.
Five wins in a row are a great way of making folks forget the past, more handy than those little strobe lights they used in the "Men in Black" flicks.
That dismal start is long gone and everything is clicking for the Braves, who used every part of their...
ATLANTA (AP) -- For the first time this season, the Braves won a game on the strength of their starting pitching.
Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez suggested it won't be the last time Mike Minor dominates a game.
Minor pitched two-hit ball into the eighth inning to give Atlanta's rotation a lift and the Braves survived a ninth-inning scare to beat Shaun Marcum and the Milwaukee...

ATLANTA (AP) -- Brian McCann equaled a career high with four hits, including a homer and four RBIs, and Dan Uggla's broken-bat single in the eighth inning gave the Braves a wild 10-8 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Atlanta's home opener Friday night.
A three-run homer by McCann highlighted a six-run fifth that put the Braves up 8-3. Milwaukee rallied, tying it on Corey...
The 6-3 Mets are headed to the 5-4 Atlanta Braves tonight, for a re-match of the opening series in which the Braves appeared to sleep through their alarm for the early 1pm games.
The Braves got swept in New York, but since then have won 5 of their last 6 games. So we need to be careful with making assumptions about this week’s series.
Well for starters, the Braves have Chipper...
ATLANTA (AP) -- Ike Davis hit a tiebreaking three-run homer and Dillon Gee pitched four-hit ball over seven innings, leading the New York Mets to another victory over the Atlanta Braves, 6-1 Monday night.
The Mets snapped Atlanta's five-game winning streak and kept up their early dominance in the NL East rivalry, winning again after a three-game sweep of the Braves in New York...
It’s early, but with the weather continuing to be good to great, and optimism still abounding, ticket sales in MLB are already looking good.
Both the Rangers (last Weds) and the Brewers (on Monday) surpassed the 2 million tickets sold mark. It was the fastest that either club had done so.
In 2011, the club did not sell its two millionth ticket until May 19. The...
