Last year in the playoffs, Ivan Nova
was asked to his job in game 5 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers and he couldn't get the job done in the biggest game of his major league career.
There is now way this guy should be in the starting rotation or on the postseason roster. Period. He has been that awful this season and he showed last night why he doesn't in playoff baseball.
The Yankees management knows he can't pitched in big time games, even though a lot people may not consinder last night's game a big one, but it would have to be nice to be two games up instead one on the Orioles.
Now let's forget about Ivan Nova. Let's focus on the starting rotation projection which will include CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, Hiroki Kuroda, Phil Hughes
and the long relief should be David Phelps
I would feel pretty confident if the Yankees decide to pass on Ivan Nova and don't let him be part of the playoff roster. We all thought this guy was going to be really good since he was pitching well last season.
It doesn't look like we will see that guy anytime soon.
BEST OF MAXIM
From Wallace Matthews:Last October, when the New York Yankees needed one more win to extend their season another round, they asked Ivan Nova to get it.
This October, they may not even invite him along for the ride.
Thursday night, facing yet another golden opportunity to create some separation between themselves and the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees turned to Nova.
Now, they're both barren memories. Hey, that's baseball. But right now, we have as much chance of building a water park beside Mount Sharp as seeing Ivan Nova pitch in the playoffs. So what happened to the Martians, and what happened to the pitcher?Well, I've seen enough TV to know the Martians built a super-technological society, then blew themselves up because they forgot...
Last night Ivan Nova pitched himself out of the postseason rotation. That is, if there IS a postseason rotation. The division lead is now down to just 1 game with 6 left to play.It was Nova's second bad start in a row after the good start he had when he returned from the disabled list. After the game Nova was asked what he thinks he needs to do to fix things. His response...
Ivan Nova has been known to be a flamethrower. But apparently, the Yankees pitcher is literally throwing fire. During Thursday's game against the Blue Jays, Nova fired a 93 mph fastball that tore right through catcher Russell Martin's glove. Despite tossing the heat, Nova suffered his eighth loss of the season after giving up six hits and four runs through 4 2/3 innings of...
The Yankees are trying to bust open the pennant race. On Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Ivan Nova busted Russell Martin's catcher's mitt. The glove is currently the second Mitt that's busting in a race right now.The webbing of the glove seems to have been completely torn apart. Maybe the Astros have been playing with broken gloves all year.If that ball...
Ivan Nova's up-and-down season continued Thursday, as he took the loss with 4 2/3 innings of four-run ball in the Toronto Blue Jays' 6-0 win over the New York Yankees. Nova, who had pitched one good game and one poor one since returning from the disabled list on Sept. 15, fell to 12-8 on the season, including a 2-5 mark since the All-Star break. "I think I'm...
BRINGING THE HEAT
Your browser does not support iframes. Here's something you don't see everyday. The play happened Thursday afternoon in the Yanks' 6-0 loss to the Blue Jays in Toronto.Seen here is New York Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova delivering a fatal blow to the glove of teammate and catcher Russell Martin. The pitch appears to sail straight through the webbing of Martin's mitt...
New York will send Ivan Nova to the mound tonight in game one of a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. In his last outing against the Oakland Athletics, Nova lasted only 2 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out two for the no-decision.
Alex Rodriguez is back in the lineup as tonight’s designated hitter.
Right-hander Brandon Morrow (8-7, 3.28...
During last night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees pitcher Ivan Nova wasn't having a good game to match his already disappointing 2012 campaign.
It didn't get much better when in the fourth inning an Ivan Nova changeup went straight through Russell Martin's glove.
That was pretty cool, except for the fact that it was ball four and the Yanks...
New York Yankees 0 — Toronto Blue Jays 6
Morrow shut down bats while Nova could not in tonight’s 6-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ivan Nova may have been auditioning for a postseason start in tonight’s game and it went bad quick. Nova could not finish 5 innings in tonight’s start. Nova’s first slip up came in the 3rd inning when the 1-out walk came back to haunt...
The Toronto Blue Jays (69-87) beat the New York Yankees (90-66) 6-0, last night at the Rogers Centre from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
W - Brandon Morrow (9-7), L - Ivan Nova (12-8)
Ivan Nova did not have a good game and he probably won't the make playoffs starting rotation. He went 4.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, gave up 4 runs, walked 2 and struck out 4 batters...
