Ike Davis has been one of the more inconsistent hitters in Mets history; at first he seemed to have a solid rookie year with tons of potential in 2010, he was on pace for a monster year in 2011 before a freak injury, in 2012 he had an atrocious first 2.5 months and a miraculous 20 homer 2nd half, and in 2013 he never got his power together- or his basic hitting. At this point it seems that 4-6 teams have strong interest in Davis or Lucas Duda. Considering the fact that Davis has surpassed 30 home runs before, it appears that he would be the better trade chip. Here are all 29 other teams and reasons why or not he could end up there: Arizona Diamondbacks: Why Not: At this point with the development of Paul Goldschmidt it seems there won’t be another first baseman there for a long time. Why: Maybe if the Mets and Diamondbacks are trade partners later in the winter, he could be a throw-in to be on the bench for them. Percent chance of ending up here: 1% Atlanta Braves: Why Not: Fredd...

GM Meetings: Mets Actively Shopping Ike Davis

The Mets and Brewers have discussed a possible Ike Davis trade, according to Andy Martino of the Daily News, but the talks did not gain any traction, and a deal is unlikely at this time, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. New York is leaning strongly toward shopping Davis instead of Lucas Duda, and this is the first concrete evidence that they have discussed their...

ESPN New York: Ike Davis Is A Goner

Adam Rubin got the sense that Ike Davis is a goner after a Mets insider told him that teams view him as a decent power bat with a change of scenery. Davis is drawing far more interest from other clubs than Lucas Duda, and it looks fairly likely Davis ultimately will get traded this offseason. A half-dozen teams have reportedly checked in with the Mets this offseason on the availability...

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mets are "leaning strongly toward" shopping first baseman Ike Davis instead of Lucas Duda. As many as "four or five teams" have interest. The Mets and Brewers did discuss a possible trade involving Davis, but the talks didn't go anywhere. A deal between the two clubs is unlikely. The Pirates, Rockies...

GM Meetings: There’s Interest In Duda and Davis, No Meeting Set With Grandy Yet

Assistant General Manager John Ricco met with reporters in Orlando and told them that so far the offseason is playing out as expected and that the Mets are doing their due diligence. “I think a lot of teams are just doing their due diligence like we are, talking with clubs. You’re trying to balance the free agents that are out there and the trade opportunities. Until you start...

The Market for Ike Davis and Wilpon Hints

Earlier today, Wilpon hinted that something is about to happen that they are meeting with teams and agents something should happen by later tonight (Source, Metsblog). This of course can mean a lot of things since he didn’t say what he would say later tonight, just that there would be an announcement. Technically it could be that the Mets will be changing their colors to Fire Truck...

What We Learned About Mets From GM Meetings

The general managers meetings ended without the New York Mets making a sound just as we knew they would. It was that way for everybody else, too. The GM meetings are for laying the groundwork for the offseason, and this much we have learned from the Mets: Despite what I wrote about maybe taking a second look at Ike Davis, it won’t happen. With a half-dozen teams inquiring about...

Non-Pirates Rumors: Ike Davis, Mark Trumbo

First base is a position of need for the Pittsburgh Pirates this off-season. There are a few free agent options available who could fill that need. There are also some trade options, including two that a lot of Pirates fans are talking about. Those two are Mark Trumbo of the Angels and Ike Davis of the Mets. This morning I noticed updates on both players from Jon Heyman, and neither...

Market for Mets 1B Ike Davis: Astros, Brewers, Rays, Rockies, Orioles

There appears to be decent trade interest in Ike Davis despite his awful 2013 season. The Astros, Orioles, Rays, Brewers and Rockies all have checked in as the Mets field offers. Milwaukee may prefer re-signing its own guy Corey Hart, however. The Mets appear set to go with Lucas Duda after Davis' second straight season hurt by a slow start. Davis recovered in 2012 to hit...

Ike Davis Wanted Out, Said Team Has Given Up On Him

WFAN’s Mike Francesa said today, that Ike Davis wants out. Francesa said he spoke with Davis during the All Star break and Ike said he wanted to leave. The former Met first rounder believes the fans have given up on him and the team has given up on him. (Hat tip to Julie) Adam Rubin got the sense that Ike Davis is a goner after a Mets insider told him today, that teams view...

The Case For Ike Davis

Everybody loves a home run slugger.  There’s nothing quite like the baseball excitement of batters with the pop in their bats to blast the ball out of the park every time they step to the plate.  Yet, in the post steroid baseball era, consistent home run sluggers, guys that can be counted on to hit thirty or more home runs year after year is diminishing. Soaring individual home...

Brewers Unlikely To Trade Norichika Aoki

Andy Martino reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are unlikely to trade outfielder Norichika Aoki, according to a major-league executive familiar with the situation. This disputes what Joel Sherman reported on Friday and actually makes a lot more sense to me… Worse yet was the notion that if they would trade him, they’d do it for Ike Davis… Cough, cough, cough… Ain’t happening…...

Mets 2013 GM Meeting Preview

The GM/Owners meetings historically are not meant for trading and free agent signings but that trend has changed over the last few years (or, I’ll admit, maybe I’ve started to pay more attention over the last few years and it just seems that way). Anyway there are a few Mets related stories starting to surface for the upcoming week. The smaller story involves Boras. Both MLBTradeRumors...
