Jordan Danks hit his first major league homer in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Chicago White Sox overcame a three-run deficit to beat the Oakland Athletics 4-3 on Friday night. With two outs in the ninth, Danks sent the first pitch he saw from Pat Neshek (1-1) deep into the right-field seats for a solo shot. Brett Myers (1-1) pitched a scoreless inning to help the AL Central leaders win for the 11th time in 16 games. Dayan Viciedo tied it at 3 with a solo homer in the seventh, snapping a 5-for-43 slump. A's starter Brandon McCarthy came off the disabled list to make his first start since June 19. He had been sidelined with a strained shoulder.

Chicago White Sox: Jordan Danks’ walk-off magic

To say that the Chicago White Sox depend on the long ball for victories is an understatement. This hit-or-miss strategy paid off Friday night as the White Sox hit four solo home runs to defeat the Oakland Athletics 4-3. With Gavin Floyd on the mound, the Athletics jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. In recent Floyd fashion, he settled down after this early deficit...

Paul Konerko Injury: Mildly Concussed, DL Stint Possible

Tuesday night, White Sox “captain” and first baseman Paul Konerko was hit in the head by baserunner Jarrod Dyson. He experienced some discomfort throughout the rest of the game but did finish out the contest. Putting Chris Sale’s Breakout Season Into Perspective

Wednesday night I went to the White Sox game and watched the team get shut down by the Royals, losing the rubber match of the series. After the game, probably in an attempt to cheer myself up, I treated myself to a Chris Sale jersey-shirt. I like to buy one a year to slowly add to my collection, and figured I couldn’t go wrong with Sale. He’s a flame-throwing left hander who...

WhenWhite Sox bullpen got older, it also got better

The White Sox finally have what they feel is a solid mix of veterans and rookies in the bullpen, and as each pitcher settles into a role, the bullpen goes into the weekend series against Oakland thriving as well as it has this season. At one point this season, because of injuries to Jesse Crain and a different-look roster, six of the seven relievers in the White Sox bullpen were...

Whether it's injury related or not, the Chicago White Sox haven't been able to get the big hit lately. The surging Oakland Athletics feel like they're going to get the job done every time. Home Run of the Day: Jordan Danks, Chicago White Sox - 21.82 seconds [video] I'm not sure there's anything more memorable than hitting your first major league home run as a walkoff blast. It's only too bad that Danks will have to listen to Hawk Harrelson's call every time he wants to watch...
