Luke Scott and Carlos Pena homered for the Rays, who have lost nine of their last 13 games at home. Chicago manager Robin Ventura was also tossed by Wegner for arguing. Tampa Bay right-hander Alex Cobb (2-1) hit a pair of White Sox batters - Gordon Beckham during the first and A.J. Hawk Harrelson flips out after Jose Quintana was tossed (Video)

Hawk Harrelson is widely despised among non-White Sox fans for his over-the-top homer calls for the White Sox on TV. Even though we’re fully prepared to hear nothing but a biased perspective from Hawk, he still manages to stun us with his sports talk radio caller-like meltdowns on a regular basis. Take for example what happened on Wednesday. Sox pitcher Jose Quintana threw behind...

Paul Konerko and Father Time

Paul Konerko is one of the best hitters in baseball. While he’s rarely mentioned among players like Josh Hamilton, Matt Kemp or Ryan Braun, Konerko has been a an important presence in the middle of the Chicago White Sox lineup. In fact, this season, he leads the American League with a .489 wOBA and a .399 batting average. What’s even more amazing about Konerko’s success is...

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Alexei Ramirez drove in two runs and the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to a season-high eight games with a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Dayan Viciedo had a run-scoring single and Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly to help Chicago take a 3-1 lead in the third. Ramirez made it 4-1 with an RBI double in the fifth. Luke Scott...

Fans Pants Fall Down at Rays vs. White Sox Game Going for a Foul Ball (Video)

So you would think fat guys would wear belts these days but it's just not the case.  Seriously I think more than half on the fat guys in the world just don't own belts.  The belly fat just pushes the pants right down off the hips and the pants have no chance.  Not sure why they do it.  In this case it was a guy going for a foul ball at the Rays vs. White Sox game last...

Matsui makes big impression in Rays debut

ST. PETERSBURG After a month in the making, Matsui Mania descended upon Tropicana Field with one Godzilla-worthy wallop. Veteran slugger Hideki Matsui may have taken his time moving up the ranks of the Tampa Bay Rays' minor leagues, accompanied each step of the way by a throng of some 50 Japanese media members. But he wasted absolutely no time Tuesday night endearing himself...

Hawk Harrelson’s EPIC anti-umpire rant today (video)

You know what a ridiculous homer and quirky public speaker Chicago White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson is (see here). That’s not news. And you know how much vitriol he has for the umpires- this isn’t a breaking development either. (See this Joe West rant) But today, he truly out-did himself in both categories. What happened today versus the Tampa Bay Rays is one of the most entertaining...

Rays Have Chance, Need Tweaks to Make World Series

In 2008, the Tampa Bay Rays were the surprise team of the year. Having finished the 2007 season with the worst record in Major League Baseball little was expected of them in 2008. However, during the off-season, the Rays made some changes. Most profoundly they changed their name from the Devil Rays to the Rays. They also changed their uniforms, which can now be found on online stores...

Hideki Matsui goes to Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays have purchased the contract of designated hitter Hideki Matsui from Triple-A Durham. The former-New York Yankees outfielder and DH— who went by the nickname Godzilla— was a fan favorite for six years in the Bronx before being released in 2010.  His quiet demeanor and consistent play were rewarded by two MLB All-Star selections and a World Series title in...

Injuries Force Rays To Go Old School

The Tampa Bay Rays made it official after weeks of speculation that Hideki Matsui is now a Ray. The 38 year old Matsui was called up from Triple A Durham after a 2-1 loss to the White Sox in Chicago with the Rays managing only 3 hits.   Riddled with injuries it was only short period of time before the Rays had to do something. The current roster looks nothing like we expected leading...

Rays, Orioles struggling after hot start

ST. PETERSBURG -- The battle for bragging rights in the AL East suddenly doesn't look like all that much to brag about. It was only a week ago that the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays were setting the pace atop the division, picking up steam heading toward their three-game series starting Friday night at Tropicana Field. But right now, the impending showdown for supremacy...

Fan loses shorts grabbing foul ball

Watch closely as a fan in Tampa grabs this foul ball off the bat of Jose Molina Wednesday night.  Warning: don’t watch too closely. I’m not even sure a belt would have solved this wardrobe malfunction. Did his shorts rip? Did he watch the rest of the game in his skivvies? Is this one of the worst things you’ve seen at a baseball game? I have to hand it to the guy.  He went...
