A's claim Brewers' Stinson off waivers

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Josh Stinson has been claimed off waivers by Oakland. Milwaukee tried to pass Stinson through waivers to open up a spot on the 40-man roster, but the gamble didn't pay off. Right-hander Alfredo Figaro and catcher Blake Lalli both are competing for the final spots in the bullpen and on the bench, but neither are on the 40-man...

Brewers shuffle Narveson to bullpen

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Chris Narveson will open the season as the team's long reliever and not in the starting rotation. Narveson is recovering from shoulder surgery and a torn rotator cuff that cut his 2012 season to just one start. "We want to back off him a little bit," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. " ... He's OK but he's really...

White Sox Dylan Axelrod: from 927th overall draft pick to 5th starter

Dylan Axelrod, a minor unsung hero of the 2011 Chicago White Sox, has made yet another comeback. Dylan Axelrod went from pitching with one south suburban semi-pro team to the pro team on the south side. While disappointments always show up this time of year as major league baseball teams teams trim their rosters to the 25-man Opening Day limit, Independent Baseball got a double dose...

Brewers 5, White Sox 4

Rickie Weeks hit a two-run homer in the first inning and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 Saturday in the final spring training game for both teams. White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod came on in relief and threw 5 1-3 scoreless innings before tiring in the eighth. Friday 5: Front Row Amy

She’s becoming as popular in Milwaukee as Bernie Brewer’s lederhosen and if you’ve watched any Milwaukee Brewers home games over the last few years, you’ve probably seen her.  Her name is Amy Williams (better known as “Front Row Amy”) and she’s the diehard fan in the tube top and sunglasses sitting behind home plate at Miller Park scoring the game.  She makes...

An Optimistic View on Axelrod, Because Why Not?

Dylan Axelrod is a name that seems to bring a negative reaction out of White Sox fans. Not a reaction of the angry variety, but that kind of “blah” variety when your mom made you eat your vegetables as a kid. Over the past few weeks, it seems as if Sox fans have made it pretty clear that they prefer Hector Santiago over Dylan Axelrod when it comes to that last rotation spot...

Chicago White Sox legends Carlton Fisk, Ron Kittle and Harold Baines will all race during home Sunday games, in sausage form.

Narveson calls move to bullpen 'smart'

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers left-hander Chris Narveson is fully on board with the team's decision to move him to the bullpen instead of beginning the season in the team's starting rotation. Narveson was limited to just one start last season because of a torn rotator cuff, and he doesn't want to overdo things early in the season. "I'm not reading too much into it,...

Milwaukee Brewers fans who wanted to bring their own potty to games this season will have to leave it at home.In the past, fans have been known to bring their own portable bathrooms with them for convenience sake. But because of the team's contract with a sanitation company, that practice will no longer be allowed. It seems Waste Management, which has the sanitation contract with...

That One Time The Brewers Beat Adam Wainwright With Two Hits

(Photo: Mike Ehrmann) Adam Wainwright has not been generous to the Brewers over the years.  Among current players with a fair number of at bats against Wainwright, only Aramis Ramirez (.404) and Corey Hart (.265) hit him respectably.  Although I could not find Wainwright’s career numbers versus the Brewers overall (apparently I need to be a STATS LLC client for that) I was...

Kyle Lohse Signs with the Brewers

Brewers end up with Lohse After a long off-season filled with many trades and free agency signings we finally have found a home for Kyle Lohse. The Milwaukee Brewers have signed Kyle Lohse to a 3 year 33 million dollar contract pending a physical. Lohse has the infamous Scott Boras as his agent so eventually a deal was going to be completed. The reason it took so long for Kyle Lohse...
