White Sox pitcher Hector Santiago had a tooth infection and a swollen face the last time he took the mound on Aug. 13 in a no decision against the Tigers. Sox manager Robin Ventura said his left-hander was in better health Sunday as he faced off against Twins right-hander Samuel Deduno at Target Field and he walked away with a better result. Santiago earned his first victory since June 21 in a 5-2 Sox triumph over the Twins. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double a home run and three RBIs to fuel the Sox offense. Addison Reed earned his third straight save and 31st of the season after closing out the ninth. “I don’t feel bad about sending him out there” Ventura said. “He feels much better. I think after the last time if we can send him out there like that he’s good to go.” The Sox took a 1-0 lead off Deduno in the first inning after Gordon Beckham was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a balk. Ramirez's single to center field drove in Beckham for the early lead. The Twins tied it 1-1 in the second after Trevor Plouffe hit a double off Santiago and advanced to third when Dayan Viciedo’s throw from left field bounced by second baseman Gordon Beckham. Viciedo was charged with a throwing error and Plouffe then scored on Oswaldo Arcia’s groundout. Ramirez notched his second hit and second RBI of the day in the third when his double drove in Alejandro De Aza who had reached base when he was hit by a pitch. Avisail Garcia's double drove in Ramirez to put the Sox up 3-1. Deduno hit three batters in the first three innings.
