Doug Fister warned his defense Friday night: Be ready because there were going to be a lot of ground-ball outs. Proving prophetic the tall right-hander needed only 88 pitches to get through eight innings. Joaquin Benoit pitched the ninth and the Tigers’ winning streak hit six with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox before 41109 at Comerica Park. Fister and the defense raced through the game in 2 hours 7 minutes. He wanted the complete-game victory but understood the circumstances. “I was ready for it but Benoit is the best closer we’ve got and that’s where we’re at” said Fister (10-5). “I always want to be out there. The biggest thing tonight was (Brayan) Pena was working hard behind the plate and our defense was outstanding.
