The Chicago White Sox have pitcher Philip Humber on the 15-day disabled list because of a right elbow flexor strain and designated outfielder Kosuke Fukudome for assignment. They have also purchased the contract of right-hander Brian Bruney from Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox announced the moves before Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Humber, who was scheduled to start Saturday, pitched a perfect game at Seattle on April 21 but hasn't been the same since then. He is 3-4 with a 6.01 ERA this season. Fukudome had been on the disabled list since June 7 with a strained right oblique. He had seven hits in 41 at-bats, after signing with the White Sox in February.

Humber joins Danks on Chicago's disabled list

The pitching seemed to be the least of Chicago's problems Friday, especially following a 1-0 loss to Milwaukee in 10 innings in which Chris Sale continued his dominant season by throwing eight scoreless innings and lowering his ERA to 2.24 in the no-decision. But that performance came in the wake of the news that Philip Humber was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive...

Chicago White Sox: Time for a pitching change

Remember last week when the Chicago White Sox organization said that John Danks would be in rehab soon and possibly returning? Well it isn’t looking like that is going to happen anytime soon. The injured Sox pitcher threw 61 pitches in a rehab start down in Charlotte and things were looking up. However, a couple days later, Danks experienced major shoulder pain and team doctors...

3 Changes That Would Instantly Make Chicago’s White Sox-Cubs Crosstown Classic Relevant Again

Over time, the flair of the Crosstown Classic has faded. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where if you are a casual baseball fan, you may not have even realized the White Sox and Cubs just wrapped up their last series of the year. Can the Crosstown Series between the White Sox and Cubs be saved? Yes, but only if some changes are made. (Image credit: AP Photo/Charles Rex Arbogast...

Pierzynski loses track of outs, jogs to dugout

Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski lost track of the outs as he was catching in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game against the Chicago Cubs. That led to an awkward but funny moment as Pierzynski jogged off the field into the dugout not realizing that there were only two outs. Your browser does not support iframes. White Sox Designate Kosuke Fukudome for assignment

The Chicago White Sox have designated Kosuke Fukudome for assignment (after he was activated from the 15 day DL), the team announced. The White Sox signed Fukudome to a one-year $1mm deal this offseason, after he spent 59 games in for the Indians in the AL Central, hitting .249 with...

White Sox 8, Brewers 6

Dayan Viciedo homered and drove in four runs, Alex Rios delivered a tie-breaking single in the seventh inning, and the Chicago White Sox rallied to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 on Saturday night. With the game tied 6-6, Gordon Beckham led off the seventh with a single and stole second. After an intentional walk to Paul Konerko, Rios put Chicago up for good. Addison Reed got Corey...

Brewers-White Sox Preview

While the Chicago White Sox might normally like their chances of posting back-to-back wins for the first time in three weeks behind Chris Sale, it remains to be seen how the hard-throwing left-hander will bounce back from a rare off outing. Additionally, the Milwaukee Brewers' Zack Greinke is no stranger to getting hit hard on the South Side. Sale and Greinke square off as...
