SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Cole Hamels? Cole Hamels?!?! It was barely 8 a.m. inside the Kansas City Royals clubhouse, but designated hitter Billy Butler was on a roll. Indeed, if the needling of a top prospect by a homegrown veteran is a sign of a team on the rise, then the Royals are well on their way. Seems left-hander Mike Montgomery, one of the Royals prized young pitchers, once had...

Can Perez end up the best Royals catcher ever?

Even though catcher Salvador Perez played in just 39 games for the Royals last season, baseball people and baseball fans quickly began to run out of ways to adequately describe the 21-year-old's talent. Perez was called a "natural," or a "freak of nature," and quite simply the "best catching prospect the Royals have ever had." Perez's unique...

Royals' Butler, fit and primed for big season

There's going to be a lot written about the "new look" Billy Butler this spring, and about all the hard work that he put in during a rigorous weight-training program in the off-season. But Butler hopes everyone will keep their expectations in check. "It's not like I'm going to be on the cover of any muscle fitness magazines," Butler said by phone...

The Kansas City Royals All-Time “WTF” Opening Day Lineup

As we are one month from Opening Day, with so much optimism surrounding the 2012 version of the Kansas City Royals, and all of the young stars that project to be in this years Opening Day lineup, we must remember some of the players that graced the Opening Day lineup card in years past that made us ask, “WTF?!?!?” Ahhhhhhhh….Opening Day…when hope springs eternal. Spring Training Report #3: Let the Games Begin

SPRINGDALE, AR – The Kansas City Royals are just two games into the spring season, but already have shown a winning attitude.  They dominated the defending American League Champion Texas Rangers in a 6-1 win to open the year, and used a late rally to win 7-6 in their second game. Many former Naturals have been a part of the team’s early spring success.  Johnny Giavotella scored...

Photo Courtesy of Minda Haas Too bad the Royals don’t play football. Considering they are gearing up for baseball season, the Royals have a mess on their hands when it comes to infield depth.
