There are some conditions to put in place in order for this to make sense, so let's do that:
1. Alex Gordon is going to continue hitting in the 2 or 3 spot. If he is going to eventually return to the leadoff spot on a more permanent basis, this discussion obviously becomes pointless. So that is condition #1-Alex Gordon is healthy, productive, and not hitting leadoff (some recent commentators have stated that they feel Gordon is a better #2 hitter anyway).
2.
