June is a big month for Chicago and Chicago Mexican fighters : Mixed martial artist Miguel Torres beat Yoshiro Maeda in his WEC bantamweight title defense on June 1. The Chicago Bulls are drafting No. 1, and it is likely that they will select Chicago native Derrick Rose. Both the Chicago Cubs and White Sox are atop the standings of their respective divisions. Just like Torres did against Maeda, David Diaz will put his WBC lightweight title on the line against Manny Pacquiao. My impression of David Diaz is that he is a bigger sized, lesser talented version of Juan Manuel Marquez. He is somewhere in between a counterpuncher and a brawler. He does a decent job at both, but is a master of neither. Unfortunately, because he does not carry Superman power, David Diaz will have his hands full against Manny Pacquiao. As witnessed in his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao has improved immensely with his jab and boxing technique. In fact, although he has never been known as a boxer, he is probably at least as good as Diaz in that aspect now. ( Go to original article to read the rest and watch fight trailer! )
