With pitchers and catchers reporting to camp looming around the corner, one person in particular is very excited to get started. Actually, he already started about a month after the 2010 season ended. Jeff Samardzija has been throwing and working out throughout the offseason with one goal in mind: make the 25-man roster. Samardzija is now out of options with the Chicago Cubs, and he must make the roster in order to continue his career with the organization. The question will be, if he makes the team after spring training, will he be in the rotation or in the bullpen?
The 6’5, 225 pound, hard-throwing righty has been between the minors and the majors constantly throughout his short career. Everyone knows that he can throw extremely hard, but it is the development of his other pitches that will help further his career with the Cubs.
