In Australian Baseball League action from today, Adelaide lost 11-7 despite a big day from the recently traded Quincy Latimore. Just one day after being sent to the Cleveland Indians for Jeanmar Gomez, Latimore went 3-for-4, with three RBI’s, two doubles, a run scored and a walk. With the departure of Latimore, Stefan Welch once again became the only Pirates players in the Adelaide lineup. He went 1-for-4, with a walk and run scored. In playoff action out of the Dominican from last night, Felix Pie and Alex Valdez each picked up two hits, helping their team to a rare postseason win. Pie finished the night 2-for-5, with a double and run scored, while Valdez was 2-for-4 in his first start in five days. Their Estrelles team has a 3-9 record in the 16-game round-robin tournament, the only team with a losing record. On the other side of the field from that same game, Alen Hanson made a rare appearance as a pinch-runner in the eighth inning. It was his first playoff game after getting into just eight games during the regular season. In Venezuela, Luis Sanz ran into his first bit of trouble this season. After allowing one earned run over 14.1 innings(playoffs and regular season combined), Sanz allowed two runs on two hits and a walk, retiring just one batter. He came in during the seventh inning and lost a 3-2 lead, turning it into a 4-3 deficit that eventually ended up as a 5-4 loss in 11 innings.
