In Winter League action yesterday, Starling Marte continued his recent hot streak, going 3-for-5, with a double, triple, two runs scored and three RBI’s. He raised his average to .333 after 21 games and he has at least two hits in five of his last eight games. For the second game in a row, Marte was replaced late on defense in center field by Gregory Polanco. Earlier in the game, Marte made his third error of the season. Polanco did not make it to the plate in either game. In other action in the Dominican, Alen Hanson made a rare appearance, this time coming in as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning. He is 0-for-5 on the season in six games. It was just the second time he has played since November 2nd. Anderson Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a run scored. It was his third straight multi-hit game and seventh game in a row with a base hit. Felix Pie went 1-for-4, with a strikeout. He has a .243/.362/.322 line in 32 games. In Puerto Rico, Benji Gonzalez had a ninth inning pinch-running appearance. He is 3-for-10, with three walks in seven games this year. In Mexico, Alis Solis went 1-for-4, with a strikeout. He caught for the second day in a row after not playing for 13 days due to a hand injury. In both games, Solis has thrown out the only runner attempting to steal. In Venezuela, Ramon Cabrera flew out in his only AB, coming on as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning. He is now hitting .194, with six RBI’s in 36 AB’s.
