In Dominican League action yesterday, Gregory Polanco got the start in center field, batting seventh for Leones del Escogido. He went 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout, while also being thrown out at second on a stolen base attempt. He has a .222/.222/.296 line in 27 AB’s, with no walks and eight strikeouts. Polanco got just his second start in the last nine days, replacing Starling Marte, who has been starting in center field for Leones. In other action in the Dominican, Anderson Hernandez went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. He is now hitting .268 with seven doubles. Oscar Tejeda got his first start of the DWL season, going 0-for-4 while playing left field. In Venezuela, Ramon Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. He had some trouble in the field, making a throwing error and allowing a passed ball, while failing to throw out the only runner attempting a stolen base against him. Darren Ford went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, two strikeouts and an RBI. Ryan Reid came on to pitch in the eighth inning last night for Aguilas del Zulia, with his team up 6-5, two men on base and one out. He allowed both runners to score, giving up the lead for good. Reid finished the game, throwing 1.2 innings, with one hit, two walks and two strikeouts, no earned runs allowed. He has a 1.74 ERA in 10.1 innings, with 11 strikeouts. In the Mexican League, catcher Ali Solis left the game in the first inning with a hand injury that occurred just four batters into the game. Solis, who had already allowed a stolen base, injured the hand during a bases loaded passed ball that allowed the first run of the game to score. For the second game in a row, Jovany Lopez faced one batter in his outing. After needing only three pitches to record an out Tuesday night, Lopez threw just one pitch to get a pop out to shortstop to end the inning, stranding an inherited runner on third base. The Australian Baseball League is off until November 22nd.
