Righthander Asher Wojciechowski needs more tests after going Monday for an MRI on his strained right lat, Astros manager Bo Porter said Wednesday morning. Porter was not sure the extent of the tests or where they would take place. “I haven’t talked to (trainer Nate Lucero) this morning, but I’m pretty sure they’ll give me a complete update of exactly what needs to happen given the results of the test in which he’s already taken,” Porter said. Wojciechowski has had two MRIs on the lat since he first hurt it on Feb. 1 while throwing a bullpen. … Japhet Amador’s imminent arrival in Astros camp after it appeared he could leave the Astros organization was positive news to Porter, who has an open first-base competition. Amador did not report to Astros camp on time because of his ill, pregnant wife, his agent said. “That’s definitely a good thing,” Porter said. “Obviously, he had to tend to some family issues. We’re excited that he’s going to be able to come here and compete for the first-base job, and I look forward to getting him here and talking to him just making sure everything is OK on the home front.” Amador’s competitors for the job include Marc Krauss, Jesus Guzman, Brett Wallace and Jonathan Singleton.
