Someone asked Reds manager Dusty Baker about the Reds' offense before Monday's game suggesting that the Reds were out of their funk. "We're not out of it yet" Baker said. "We're scoring three runs a game. That's enough to win." Three runs would have been enough to win Monday night. But the Reds could not manage any off Travis Wood and two Chicago Cub relievers in a 2-0 loss before a crowd of 22920 at Great American Ball Park. The game was a severe letdown after the Reds took six of seven against the Cardinals and Dodgers. "We had a great run against the Cardinals and the Dodgers" starter Bronson Arroyo said. "It would have been nice to continue tonight. That's what good pitching does. You look at (Wood's) record as good as he's pitched he's got a losing record. But on any given night he can put up seven zeros like he did. "We just couldn't capitalize in key situations." The Reds had their chances off Wood. They put a runner in scoring position in the first third fourth fifth and sixth. But they were 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. "He made the pitches when he needed to" Baker said. "We'd either strike out or pop up. We couldn't get that key hit tonight. Our guys are trying their hearts out. We just didn't have it." Arroyo (13-11) went seven innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. He walked none and struck out six. He threw 89 pitches 63 strikes. It was the ninth time in 29 starts that Arroyo has not walked a batter.
