Nick Cafardo was the first to report that the Cubs and Red Sox are working on a deal to send Marlon Byrd to the Red Sox. The Red Sox have reportedly been seeking help since losing Jacoby Ellsbury to injury. That help might soon arrive in the form of Marlon Byrd. According to MLB.com, the Boston Red Sox have acquired Marlon Byrd and cash from the Chicago Cubs in a trade. The Cubs receive Michael Bowden and a player to be named later. Byrd and Bowden are not household names, but at least these teams are trying something. Byrd is a centerfielder with a career .278 ave.,
